the rangers just moved to 36-10 (.783 winning percentage) on the year in 1-run games. their expected won-loss record is a game or two over .500, yet they just won their 90th game. meanwhile, the other teams currently projected to make the playoffs have a 194-185 record (.512 winning percentage).

it's partially because of the way they won it, but more because it's been clear for months that they would win the division pretty handily, and it's also been clear that there are much bigger goals than just the division.
