  1. I'm starting to think the Cubs aren't going to win the World Series this year.
  2. What was Sing's BABIP? In any case, his walk rate was fine even though his power numbers were not great and he wasn't hitting for avg.
  3. Well there goes all my interest in that game!
  4. Hes hurt. Broken foot opening day. Plus he's by far the least ready of the three 1b options.

  6. Hey, might as well get the loss out of the way now rather than later. Getting swept in a doubleheader is even more depressing.
  7. They do; it's on your mouse. Zing!
  8. Agreed that 12 mil/2 he gave Neifi and Rusch could've been used on a much needed SP. These guys have to go. Paying Neifi $5M over 2 years is the ultimate disgrace.
  9. Reality. Look at the lineup and the starters the Cubs have been throwing out there, and try to say with a straight face that they should be winning consistently. oh, c'mon. look at the lineup, even as pathetic as it has been without Lee, and try to say honestly that that lineup is only capable of scoring a run a game for two weeks. it's not reality. I didn't expect an offensive juggernaut, especially without Lee, but this is bizarr-o world type stuff. Yeah, they have been in a collective slump, but you've got ONE guy on the team (ARam) who can be relied upon to put up an OPS+ above 100. I.e., you've got one guy on the team who you know is an above-average hitter. Barrett and Walker are above-average for their positions, but average in terms of any hitter. Neifi is bad; Cedeno (as a shortstop) can be expected to be below 100. Jacque is below-average for a RF but near average for a hitter. Pierre is below-average too, especially if he plays like he did last year - and he's playing worse. Murton it's hard to say, but it's unlikely he'd be much better than Jones due to his lack of power. This is a lousy lineup, there are no two ways around it.
  10. All we need is 5 leadoff walks, 5 successful sac bunts, and then 5 hits with a RISP. Right, the Cubs won't draw 5 leadoff walks in two weeks.
  11. Reality. Look at the lineup and the starters the Cubs have been throwing out there, and try to say with a straight face that they should be winning consistently.
  12. I'd like to take this opportunity to mention that I predicted in the season predictions contest that the Cubs would win 74 games this year. I'm sittin' pretty. They have very little chance of winning that many. True, but considering that there were only 2 other people who picked the Cubs to finish under .500 (76 & 78 wins) and most people picked them to win somewhere in the high 80s or low 90s, I'm going to clean up in that category.

  14. But sac bunting is not right. Not sac bunting is the right answer. Not foolishly reducing your chances is the right answer. Not giving up outs is the right answer. The right answer is to not repeatedly make the same mistakes. We lead the league in DP's! You have to do something to scrape some runs over. To be honest, it really doesn't matter. This offense is just a massive steaming turd. Whether you sac bunt or swing away, they're not going be anything better than lousy.
  15. I swear, about three-quarters of this roster is absolutely useless
  16. If they really want a cure, they should sponsor another team.
  17. Quite possibly the dumbest thing ever said by a major league manager.
  18. Yeah that's probably the reason, rather than the 4th worst team OBP in the major leagues. I see Dusty fault because we can't get on base. When does the fault land on the players? Some lies on the players, a lot on Hendry, some on the hitting coach, a little on Baker. Every one of those things I mentioned above - they all suck.
  19. Come on, IF??? This is Fat Glen we're talking about. jinx Yup blame me rather than the 320 lb guy who throws junk
  20. Yeah that's probably the reason, rather than the 4th worst team OBP in the major leagues.
  21. Is this another one of those things where you're joking but we can't tell?
