  1. Actually, it's not: That equals 129 through today's HRs... not 148. I also did scores... will post in a minute. They include HRs from today (Thome's 2, Murton, Walker, Pujols, Konerko, whoever else)
  2. This is the one that will turn the Cubs around to a 72 win season!!!
  3. Let's not forget that Dumpster pitched like crap yet again. Yeah Neifi's play was terrible, but either way, the closer did blow the save.
  4. Boy, why even play the bottom of the 9th? It was obvious to everyone that no serious threat would be mounted.
  5. Hey, it's better to have losses like this when we already know the team sucks and isn't going anywhere.

  7. The Cubs' team OBP is .300. I'll try to explain how bad that is. The Blue Jays have a team batting average of .299. Nine teams have a team OBP at or above .350. All but nine teams have an OBP at or above .330. But wait, there's more! The Cubs also have the worst slugging percentage and, obviously, the worst OPS in baseball. Toronto's OPS is nearly 200 points higher than the Cubs', and the next worst OPS (Angels) is still 20 points above the Cubs. The Devil Rays are only .004 behind the Cubs in batting average. If the D-Rays can surpass the Cubs in that category, we'll be witnessing the awesome feat of having the worst team BA, OBP and SLG. Simply amazing.
  8. I really think I'd seriously consider trading every player in the Cubs organization for Miguel Cabrera. That's a statement both on how good he is, and how worthless most of the current Cubs and Cub farmhands are.
  9. By the way, my favorite part about this Cub collapse is the vast number of thread titles and posts that would normally be considered trolling, but instead is just Cub fans making fun of their own team.
  10. I was thinking the same thing. Throw in the towel and wait until a year when there are actually Cubs worth voting for.
  11. Yeah, somebody should have suggested that the Cubs sit Maddux at the end of last year and not let him reach that vesting option, so that they weren't dumping $9 million on a mediocre pitcher this year.
  12. Not only am I more interested in that, I'm also more interested in how my fantasy team is doing. I was actually sort of happy about Miguel Cabrera's HR yesterday, because if the Cubs start winning they'll give a contract extension to Dumbsty.
  13. Most logical and sane people never really even considered that argument. Unfortunately, the Cubs are not run by logical, sane people.
  14. HAVE YOU NEVER SEEN A PLAYER PERFORM BETTER IN THEIR PRIME YEARS? EVER? Whiner. Unfortunately, if Albert hits more than about 65 homers, the steroid question is going to be asked, since the other three guys who eclipsed that mark all have serious questions about how they did it.
  15. Awesome indeed. I think Pujols is averaging a something like one homer per game on the season too.
  16. Ben Stein has an answer to his problem.
  17. Masked how? Even with the monster year from Lee, they were 79-83 and missed the playoffs by 10 games. It's not like 2004, when they were really close to the playoffs and could blame injuries and Latroy Hawkins. This team was lousy last year and is even worse now.
  18. Jones was brutal for most of April, Pierre has been bad all year, as has Hairston. Hell, ARam has been a liability most of the season, and Rusch has been worthless. The vets deserve probably more of the blame than the rookies, not less. They all suck.
  19. Better players, better management
  20. Eric Patterson has 3 walks in 3 plate appearances tonight... expect for him to be traded or released by Friday.
  21. I'd also like to note that against what is probably the worst bullpen in all of baseball, the Cubs went 12 up, 12 down with 6 strikeouts. WTG fellas!
