    I call B.S. Ozzie was signed by the Padres at age 16. Even if you assume he played 2 years in a summer league in Venezuela, he still came to the U.S. at age 18. He's now 42, meaning that he's spent more than half his life, and his entire adult life, in the U.S. for at least several months, if not the entire year. "In my country" is a legitimate excuse if you hopped off the boat last year. He's been in this country long enough to know that the word he used is offensive to some people.

    I like Walker a lot, but I think that E-Patt will be able to hit almost as well as him, for a cheaper price. Plus, I think there are enough smart teams out there who recognize Walker's worth as an offensive second baseman that the Cubs can get a fairly solid prospect in return for him.

    Jeff's last 4-5 starts have been respectable, though. Respectable, but not lights out like Jered's were.

    When's he going to be ready then? He's already getting a full year in AAA. He needs to learn to be more selective, but he's had a lot of success as a hacker, and he's in the wrong organization to get a better eye.

    Yeah, the problem with this attitude is that just about every superstar player gets overpaid. Is A-Rod worth $25M? Manny Ramirez worth $20M? The Cubs can keep waiting for a superstar who will sign for a lower figure, but they'll probably keep ending up with the Jacque Jones and Juan Pierres of the world manning the outfield.

    Just to update this topic, the idiot Angels sent Jered down to the minors. In other news, his brother still has an ERA over 6, and still will be in the starting rotation. Oh well, I guess the Angels are already 7 games out and counting now... those idiots deserve what they get for farming out one of their better pitchers.

    Does that gun used during the DJaxx game tend to read high? According to BA, Gallagher sat in the 88-90 mph range most of last year and wasn't considered very projectable (to add more velocity). I would think that if his fastball sits in the 91-94 range and touches 96 at times, that would really give him a pretty high standing as a prospect.

    I can't stand that, and I also can't stand when a guy gets fouled and then acts like his leg is about to fall off... then gets up and is sprinting 30 seconds later. They need to do something about that, like give a yellow card to guys who flop or play hurt, or at least award the ball the other way.

    No matter, 3-0 now. Maybe Serbia & Montenegro is really bad, but Argentina looks really good right now.

    Man, Argentina scored a sick goal against Serbia & Montenegro. Then they should've had another one but the linesman blew an offsides call... and the player got a yellow card for protesting. Give the linesman a yellow card for bad eyesight.

    As I said before, MLB has suspended pitchers for throwing at batters - whether or not they hit the batter. They also just suspended Joe Torre for a game after Randy Johnson hit a batter - even though it's very clear that Johnson took it upon himself to throw at the batter. Guillen ordered his pitcher to hit a batter. How is that not worth a suspension when a pitcher throwing at a batter is worth one?

    Again, there's absolutely no excuse for MLB not suspending Guillen after he makes those comments and behaves the way he did in the dugout.

    From espn.com... So being as 96% of the public can plainly see that Guillen ordered his pitcher to bean a batter, shouldn't he be suspended by MLB? After all, they suspend pitchers when they deem that the pitcher intentionally throws at a batter. A manager should likewise receive punishment for ordering a pitcher to throw at a batter. If nothing else, MLB should ask for an explanation why the pitcher was removed after recording an out and then was summarily berated in the dugout.

    That's my biggest problem with his actions. The rookie did throw inside twice, although he didn't hit Blalock. I'm sure he's nervous already, pitching in just his 3rd game. Then he gets asked to go out and drill one of the best hitters on the other team. I'm sure that's not an order he received too frequently in the minors. And, I think he was trying to be too careful and not do something that will get him in really hot water, like hit Blalock in the head. Ozzie might be a good manager, but he continues to prove that he's a classless individual. I'll say good riddance once he's out of baseball.
