  1. Why? His brother has a 6.64 ERA. If he has another couple of solid starts, I don't know why they would send him down and keep throwing his crappy brother every five days.
  2. No surprise, the minute I pick him up on my fantasy team, he gives up a couple of runs. I have to admit, I'm a little concerned about the run support he'll receive, because the Angels' offense kinda sucks.
  3. I wasn't aware of the character issues with Drabek. Are the concerns legitimate? If so, I'd go with Kershaw as well.
  4. I thought very, very strongly about it, but figured I'd wait and see how he did in his next start. Most people in my league follow the majors very closely but don't know as much about prospects, so I figured I'd be safe taking that approach.
  5. OK that's 5 for Stubbs... on to the Dodgers. They have a deep, strong system and can afford to go for a higher-risk pick who will take longer to develop. I'll say Kyle Drabek.
  6. Tossing another gem tonight, after shutting down the Orioles last outing. So far in the bigs he's thrown 13 innings, given up 5 hits and 3 walks, and struck out 13. Welcome to my fantasy team, Jered. Not a surprise that he's dominating, given what he showed in the minors and in college, and also the fact that he has a deceptive delivery that is going to be really tough for opposing batters the first time they see it.
  7. I'm voting for Stubbs every time until he's picked now... so, Drew Stubbs.
  8. I'm pretty sure the Cubs could fill up a significant portion of the "busts" category.
  9. He hit 4 HRs in over 400 ABs last season, hit only 20 XBHs and had only 33 HRs in 1450 ABs coming into this season. I think the Cubs can be excused if they think that his performance this year is a fluke, given his track record.
  10. Imagine if I win both contests? I'd be like the Nostradamus of baseball. I don't know if I'm winning the other one, but I did pick the Cubs to be crappier than anyone else, so I've got that going for my picks.
  11. Hey, at least he has an excuse, unlike Teixeira.
  12. Me and the guy who has been following right behind me for quite some time have the same A-group hitter (A-Rod), the same two B-group hitters (Dunn & Pujols), two of the same C-group hitters (Bay & Delgado) and the same Bonus hitter (Thome). So between me and him, it comes down to: Me: Giambi, Swisher, Gomes, Helton, Huff TrueBlueCubFan: Berkman, Beltre, Holliday, Wilkerson, C. Jones
  13. Dude, Jack Wilson's line is 312/349/462/812. His career line is 266/306/374/680. I'm not sure that you can really ask for much more from him.
  14. Trade the entire organization for him. I'd probably do that too... I think he's worth more than every player in the Cub organization, collectively.
  15. I checked everything over with my spreadsheet and it looks like we're on the same page now. I found 5 errors, 2 of which were on my end. I think you're short a home run for three people, but it happens that the three people you're short on are the three people who have Jason Varitek, so I'm guessing you just didn't add in his HR from last night. Otherwise, I think our spreadsheets match up now.
  16. That whole team can rake. Rios is breaking out this year, Glaus has lots of pop, Catalanotto, Overbay and Hillenbrand are all good hitters for average... even Molina hits well for a catcher.
  17. By the way, I love that three of the eight position players in tonight's lineups - regular starters, mind you - still have single digit walk totals. That's 50 games into the season. Boy, I can't figure out why the offense sucks!
  18. if you're left handed, you can be clinically dead and have a roster spot on even a high salary team. Just look at Rusch. He's been dead for 8 months now. Norm Charlton and Jeff Fassero are the posterboys for this phenomenon.
  19. I can't believe this bum still has a job. He was horrible in both 2003 and 2004, and then had a fluke ERA under 4.00 last year despite an awful WHIP and a bad strikeout rate. Apparently as a middle reliever, all you need is a pulse to hang around on a low- to mid-salary team.
  20. Let me know if any of mine were wrong.
  21. Not going to hold my breath waiting for this to happen...
  22. By the way, nobody thought it odd that Scott G.F. went from 97 HRs to 137 HRs in five days?
