  1. And if the ref calls a flagrant foul, like it would normally be called in rec league, high school, college, or NBA, Xavier wins the game too.
  2. Yeah, for some reason they didn't say as much when Greg Oden basically picked a guy up and threw him out of bounds, but that wasn't a flagrant foul. But whatever, traveling doesn't exist any more, so they shouldn't have called it there. Happily, despite Tennessee's collapse and aTm's narrow loss yesterday, I can still win my pools if UCLA wins the championship - which won't happen because I picked them. But it's nice to have a rooting interest other than rooting against the best paid team in the nation.
  3. I'll be quite surprised if McRoberts is a lottery pick.
  4. what a terrible player he was
  5. My chances of winning a pool this year destroyed by Tennessee and aTm losing by a combined two points. Oh well, at least the sports teams I root for are luckier than I am!
  6. I'll feel much better if Florida loses tomorrow, but with my luck they'll probably go all the way. At times like this, I hate sports. Why couldn't I have grown up loving Duke, the Yankees and the Patriots? My life would be so much easier. I apologize to everyone on the board for these horrible words, I'm just in a very depressed mood right now. We've all been there. Actually, some of us have never been anywhere but there.
  7. oh and seriously, greg oden is at least 35 years old
  8. oh well, i guess every good story needs a villain... I've still got my villain to root against. Go Butler, UNLV, USC and Georgetown tomorrow (note that all the teams I'll be rooting for go against my picks except for G'town - guess I'm not willing to sell out the underdog for the prospect of winning $100)
  9. I had Tennessee too, but I really don't have much money riding on it. I'll root against Ohio State in every game they play, regardless of my pick.
  10. That's my biggest beef about the way the game ended. The second half was called super tight, and basically every time a guy drove to the hoop, the defender picked up a foul. The Tennessee rebounder got fouled, and the rest of the half they were calling what Conley did (getting in the offensive player's way on a drive) a foul. Call the game the same the whole way through. I think college basketball refs are only marginally worse than college football refs.
  11. The officiating in the game might have been biased towards OSU, but in the last minute if anything it was to UT-the only real questionable call was the one on OSU where the two players hips just happened to collide while the UT player was on the way down. no way, really? What pisses me off more than this game is the fact that Ohio State should already be out. Greg Oden throws a guy out of bounds and somehow that's not a flagrant foul. Go Memphis, then go UNC/USC/Georgetown/Vandy. Please don't let this overpaid, undeserving team win a title. i hope holy cross wins oh wait hey, on the good side, if you guys win the title, it'll be your second major college sports title in five years that you can credit to incompetent officiating!

  13. ugh people rooting for tosu for the sake of their pools... these are the same people who were pulling hard for the empire to destroy the republic in star wars
  14. And at least half of them have been ticky-tack crap. the officiating in that game was awful... are these really the best college basketball refs?
  15. hey terrific, foul not called on the rebound and another on conley's body contact on the drive... good to see ohio state in the elite 8 after deserving to win all of one of their first three games.
  16. snap never happened
  17. Yeah... "one pitch Rich" became "OMG I want Rich Hill to have my babies!" A lot of folks were too quick in writing him off, but we're all Cub fans and all want him to succeed. Some of us are just a little less impulsive than others. :D
  18. bump for good luck in 2007!
  19. He's hit 90-91 a few times in the second inning but his command still isn't great. Check out the game thread. This may get locked, but- He topped out at 93 on a fastball with movement. He looked like a different person after the first inning, and he wasn't really hit that hard in the first. He's still struggling with command a little, really brought to attention by Hill pounding the zone in his inning of work, but he certainly looked a lot better than any appearance I read about. I'm tempted to go back and find the Rich Hill thread in baseball discussions last year and bring it back for this year with a huge bump. I loved posting in that thread after yet another sellar outing in the 2nd half of the year. Edit - consider it done
  20. good point, throwing the ball well is one thing, but he needs to learn how to win.
  21. Do you think that saying came about because somebody got really startled and actually pooed themself? Or is it just a figure of speech?
  22. kentucky can have Ed DeChellis if they want
  23. damn upper lows... go away and let me enjoy Rich Hill in all his glory
  24. Before or after the attack by rabid wolverines? God, I really hate U of M. http://valuecarpetonline.com/michigan-dm.jpg State Sucks!!! You're right, the entire state of Michigan does suck.
  25. That's what I meant about the gun. If they're clocking Maddux near 90 and Hill at 95, then Prior was probably sitting at 87-91. But whatever, velocity is less important to me at this point than keeping the ball down and hitting his spots. Oh yeah, Rich Hill is still awesome.
