  1. he didn't even play yesterday... what's he so tired from? maybe he got hammered last night.
  2. some fan needs to run on the field and kick steve kline in the nads after this half inning. Just because he's a prick.
  3. Do you consider .281 BA .341 OBP for a SS and .297 BA .370 OBP for a RF, well below average? Perhaps your standards are a bit high? Look at the numbers. The Cubs are at or near the bottom of the league at C, RF, SS and CF in terms of OPS. It has nothing to do with high standards, it's a straight up comparison to every other team in the NL. Whats our RF's slugging? Thats why there is an upgrade needed Cubs RF are at 285/358/355/713 on the year. The OBP is 9th best in baseball, but the OPS is 23rd, and SLG is only better than one team (Padres). If the Cubs had a Chase Utley or Carlos Beltran to knock out 30 homers from a middle-of-the-field position, this wouldn't be a problem. But nobody up the middle has power either.
  4. i like gallagher a lot, but please send him back to iowa. It's pointless having him around as a mop-up guy, and honestly his location is not sharp enough at this stage of his career to be an asset to the 2007 cubs.
  5. Dan Haren would like to have a word with you. he's really good... but the rest of the rotation is gaudin, kennedy, blanton and some combo of dallas braden, harden and lenny dinardo. The bullpen also looks pretty average overall.
  6. so apparently catcher's ERA is not a bogus stat! His game calling abilities have been overhyped? Or possibly this was his first time working with Cubs pitchers ever and he probably had only 3 hours of pre-game to go over a game plan most batteries have had spring training and all year? well oakland had the #2 ERA+ in the american league... not saying that kendall was the reason, but obviously somebody is doing something right there. On paper, that team doesn't have great pitching.
  7. Or the same feeling I get when I see Corey Hart, JJ Hardy, and Ryan Braun hit homer after homer. You're kidding right. Hart and Braun, in particular, are top-flight prospects who mashed throughout the minors. Braun hitting a home run for them is like A Ram hitting a home run for us. yeah except braun is hitting more like pujols than ARam
  8. You mean like leaving Prior in for over 120+ pitches with a 12-3 lead in Game 2 of the NLCS?? that made me want to burn dusty's house down
  9. so apparently catcher's ERA is not a bogus stat!
  10. i'm guessing he was telling Z that his day was done. I have a hard time believing that a manager is going to chew out his star pitcher for not busting it down to first with a nine run lead.
  11. dusty would've had him go for the complete game shutout, because that's what Z would've wanted
  12. I see no reason why he shouldn't. It's 4 innings with a 9 run lead. the long stretches of sitting around doing nothing probably haven't done much for his stamina.
  13. it's not really about that... the reason it doesn't "happen" to opponents is because the Cubs don't have patient hitters. The Cubs are 25th in baseball in walks drawn. They need an opposing pitcher to be wild in order to draw a lot of walks. Fortunately, the pitching staff isn't walking everyone in the league like last year, though.
  14. if Z throws more than 110 pitches, i'm burning down lou's house
  15. God these guys are terrible. Save some runs for tomorrow. Or yesterday.
  16. apparently misch doesn't know how to throw a curveball in the dirt... if he did, jock would already be putting on his cap and trotting out to CF.
  17. i'm already bored. the giants have been painfully pathetic in this game.
  18. jock batting versus a lefty, cue the benny hill music
  19. that's funny, it sure seems like the offense could use some help
  20. nice.... especially the zero walks
  21. i feel sorry for giants fans... but not that sorry, because the 2007 giants are about as uninteresting and anemic as the 2006 cubs
  22. he rolled it over to the first baseman....anyone else over there would have made a routine 4-1 put out if that's true, why wasn't it an error?
  23. well once you give up a pair of two-out, 2 RBI to Jock Jones and Koyie Hill, I think you can say that you earned the loss
