  1. or according to what it was for every other player in today's game
  2. can't be tough to hit home runs when the ball has to be thigh-high, middle of the plate to be called a strike. what a joke.
  3. is there any way that ohman doesn't walk bonds here? Will doesn't throw a whole lot of strikes, and bonds doesn't swing at balls.
  4. d'backs losing 10-1 to the brewers "b" lineup... play that badly against us plz
  5. if he doesn't get klesko out, no more messing around... can't leave an ineffective reliever in a game that's still in doubt.
  6. Yes it can regardless, he belongs in the Hall of Fame. my mistake, but if memory serves me correct, the proven time he was on the 'roids was little and did not make him hit all 752 bombs true, but it's also been basically proven that he used steroids, which was in your original statement. I don't care if they have photos of him shooting roids into his but for the past 10 years, he's a hall of famer.
  7. Yes it can regardless, he belongs in the Hall of Fame.
  8. I picked the worst possible option, which was the first one.
  9. ryan braun comes up and is albert pujols; gallardo is already jake peavy too
  10. lilly runs like he needs to take a dump, or he's already taken one in his pants
  11. morris's ERA is starting to catch up to his peripherals
  12. Oh by the way, Ronny Cedeno has a .989 OPS in 60 games this year... I guess that puts him not far behind Weeks in terms of prospect status.
  13. Can I also think about the sample size of Weeks (55 games)? Because his OPS the year before was 773, and his big-league OPS is 733. Which figure is a big outlier?
  14. it couldn't be that these guys are all "better" than their major league counterparts because they've not been given enough of a chance to fail at the big league level, could it? i suppose, but the fact of the matter is, for the combined estimated 18 mil that your getting out of the vets, you could get slightly less to better production out of your cheap in house options. While i'm not going to go and say that there is a 0% chance that ALL of these young guys will fail, is it a stretch to say that we'd be better off? You have murton who's already produced at the ML level, Cedeno whos tearing up AAA who could definitely do better than Izturis, Soto who has also had success at AAA that couldn't be any more of an anomaly that Kendall and Hill have been in 07', Pie who is our young stud that needs to go through the growing pains that could show some flashes, but will inevitably pay off more in the long run in his development than having pagan as your 4th of with mediocre offense. Petrick who had done good in limited time on the ML squad, and has been great in 07' in the minors, should definitely outpitch Eyre if given extended time. The ruling is out on Piggy though, but I think you will agree with me that you'd like to see him pitch on the ML team more than Ohman. nobody's arguing that Hendry isn't a moron who wastes money. I think Murton can probably outhit Floyd. Cedeno could probably outhit Izturis, but could he outhit Theriot? I'm not so sure... and feel free to check Cedeno's numbers this month, which show a regression in his plate discipline to more "normal" levels for him. Pie you're talking about needing to go through "growing pains", but when you have a hot team that is very much in the playoff race, is that the appropriate time to call him up and watch him flail away at bad balls? Eyre is worthless, I won't argue that. And no, I wouldn't like to see Piggy pitch more than Ohman, because Ohman has been a fairly solid lefty reliever for two years now, whereas Piggy's stuff (to me) screams "Kirk Saarloos" - a guy who can get minor leaguers out, but whose stuff is too fringe to be effective against major league hitters.

  16. As of 10:30 Central this link was still showung 7-17 results. Yeah, it's not meant to be live updating. More like something for tomorrow morning. up now (6:49 EST) what a great site... who runs this and how do they do it?
  17. Haven't we beat you 4 of 6? Didn't Kyle Loshe throw 8 shutout innings and K you 12 times? I don't remember the specific numbers, but the Cubs had plenty of success against the Cards last year. That didn't change the fact that the Cubs stunk and the Cards... well, you know. Speaking of Cards, what's with Kip Wells pitching 8 innings of 2-hit ball against the Marlins? Is the Marlins' offense really that bad? every dog has his day... marlins offense isn't good but it's not the sf giants either
  18. yet another reason for me to hate the city of new york
