  1. Outside of San Diego, Anaheim, and arguably Detroit, name me a team that has more than one shutdown guy. By that standard, the only WS-caliber team in the NL is San Diego. But yeah, our offense is pretty average.
  2. No steroid allegations + magic number 3,000 = HOF. I don't see how being the best player on your team matters. He was one of the best 2B in the business for a long, long time. Plus, come on. Mazeroski got in on .260 BA, .299 OBP(!!), .367 SLG. Nobody can tell me Craig's .282/.365/.434 doesn't blow that out of the water 6 ways to Sunday. Bigs played longer, too. Without commenting on Biggio's qualifications, we're not really using Maz as the baseline, are we? He's in, isn't he? It's a 2B comparison, Maz is in and Bigs will be voted on. How is that not a valid comparison? Not my fault the voters put Maz in. Fred Lindstrom, Jimmy Collins and Brooks Robinson are in the Hall of Fame, therefore Ron Santo has also been selected.
  3. yes he was, and outside of one or two years, the same could be said about anyone that played on a team with babe ruth or willie mays.
  4. Yes to Carl Crawford. .341 OBP this year, a better fielder than what we have out there in RF, and only $4M. wait, if he's so cheap and awesome, why would tampa trade him? like i said, he's not that good. if we're going to sell the farm, dunn is a much better option and provides much needed power. a catcher at iowa has a homer and two walks tonight too
  5. Fathers win. Braves also won, but Dodgers lost. Cubs still 1.5 back in WC (tied with ATL) and 3.0 back of MIL.
  6. You managed to compile all of that, and post it in under three minutes? Wow, impressive. Hah, no, I did it all beforehand. Doing all that takes a little longer than 3 mins... ETA: I'm pretty sure Kevin Hart is wrong, since I just noticed that he's pitched 3 innings for Iowa tonight. MiLB.com had him as the starter for 7/25 though. Meh. Yeah he also just hit for himself (he's actually 2-2 in the game), so I'd guess he'll be pitching the bottom of the 8th. So obviously Iowa will be throwing someone else in this one.
  7. yup, Patterson has 3 singles and a triple, with 3 RBI. Soto just homered for Iowa, he's 1-3 with 3 RBI and 2 walks. Murton has walked twice, but is hitless otherwise. In other news, Tennessee had its game suspended by rain in the 3rd, and Daytona was rained out.
  8. my dog just talked to bruce levine, and he verified that a deal for adam dunn is close
  9. rockies scored 3 in the 7th to tie it, but the padres got 2 in the top of the 8th (padres' rally included a michael barrett double, remember him?) and will probably be heading to trevor hoffman time with a 5-3 lead.
  10. the runner still at first was the one who actually matters.
  11. first base is open.... dusty might've walked him
  12. unfortunately there's a garden gnome at the plate
  13. that was not an encouraging breaking ball to general so
  14. chris young out after 2 innings... wonder what happened
  15. we have 1 run in 5 innings off kip wells, and some people still think acquiring a starting pitcher is the biggest need?
  16. enough... can't take any more of joe buck's snide comments about zambrano.
  17. He's a very good rookie, but yeah... it's frustrating seeing just about every one of the Brewers prospects turning into excellent players. Where are their Gary Scotts and Mike Harkeys?
