  1. Didn't the Braves just lose their last 3 games?
  2. Who do you have in mind? It might be best to buy low. Go after guys who aren't currently having great years. Maybe Uggy Urbina? Felix Rodriguez? I also expect Hendry to sign Dotel, although he won't help much next season. Bullpens are always a crapshoot, and there's no sense in overpaying. Most of the money this offseason should be spent on offense or another starting pitcher. I think this pen would be pretty good: dempster williamson urbina rodriguez ohman rusch
  3. Yah, I would be careful when considering going after any closer at that age, especially when he makes that kind of money. The only closer I would have any real interest in this offseason is Ryan. Guardado can often make the 9th inning just as interesting as Dempster anyway. Cubs should just look into adding depth to the pen by acquiring a couple good SU guys instead.
  4. I think Wagner's arm is about 40 innings away from falling off. I'd look into Ryan this offseason. If we can't get him, I'd rather get a couple good SU guys.
  5. [sweet Lou]He sucks, and makes too many errors. I think I'll put him in LF.[/sweet Lou]
  6. I'd be rooting for the Nats, actually. They won't be in it in the end, and the Phillies might.
  7. To get 90 wins, the Cubs can only lose 10 games for the rest of the season. That's going to be very hard.
  8. Yah, that one hit Dempster gave up was really scary. Seriously, every closer has games that keep you on the edge of your seat. It's just magnified because it happens to be the team you are watching. Cubs are 19-0 this season when he comes into the game in a save situation. He gets the job done and I wouldn't change a thing right now. Also, a closer should be able to pitch almost everyday and I'm not sure if Wood is capable of doing that right now.
  9. Perhaps he was talking about Neifi?
  10. god I hope you are kidding for our benefit, I see nothing wrong with the idea nice hit corey He should be in LF and Burke should be at 2B.
  11. Chicago Cubs 1 Matt Lawton, RF 2 Neifi Perez, 2B* 3 Derrek Lee, 1B 4 Aramis Ramirez, 3B 5 Nomar Garciaparra, SS 6 Matt Murton, LF 7 Corey Patterson, CF 8 Henry Blanco, C 9 Greg Maddux, P *Stupid
  12. Just to continue the thought that Matsui isn't the remarkable player it seems you think he is, Burrell - with 118 K's - has better RISP numbers than Matsui. Which means nothing.
  13. I think Lee, Nomar, or Walker would have done to same thing Aramis did. Only Neifi would walk to the mound, chat with him, and pat him on the back.
  14. As a starter he sucks. As a utility player, he's awesome.
  15. I was thinking the same thing. I'd rather wait until after next season to make Lee an offer. If he doesn't accept, let him walk and stick Sing at 1B for 07. Then sign Hafner the following offseason.
  16. Hudson's bat doesn't impress me that much. I think he'd be much more valuable if he can play SS.
  17. What do you think Matsui is? I'll take hitters who can walk AND slug. I believe you can have both.
  18. Maybe not the whole time, but he was hurt a lot in Pittsburgh. Although he didn't really do anything to solve the problem so I guess you can criticize him for that. I think saying that he is the most frustrating Cubs player to watch is just a bit overboard though. *cough*Corey Patterson*cough*
  19. He could be the Cubs 4th OF next season.
  20. Not really. He looks the same as he did before.
  21. disingenuous? hahahahaha, yeah, okay. pujols trails in just about every offensive category to lee, yet he deserves the MVP? this isn't really the place for this, but i really think you can find a better argument against vance than this. it's really pathetic. He trails him in average and HR by a small amount, leads OBP by a small amount, trails in SLG by about 30 points, and other than that it's about even. The difference between the two is that Lee has been hitting .270 in the second half (while the Cubs fell apart), while Pujols has been hitting over .360 since the All-Star break, as the Cards put away the division. Who do you think will end up with the better stats? ;) :-k
  22. Next year is his contract year. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that he puts together a solid season as a starter, even if that means pitching through some pain.
