Indications are the Cubs may get involved in a multi-player deal. One report of a rumored trade: pitcher Jerome Williams, outfielder Corey Patterson and second baseman Todd Walker to Texas for power-hitting second baseman Alfonso Soriano and outfielder Kevin Mench.

Then you could then move Soriano for someone if you wanted or keep him and that kills two holes. You know dusty wouldn't play neifi over soriano.

Please Jim, not again...

Not another season of watching meaningless solo homers day after day...

I don't see too many solo HRs if Soriano is hitting in his rightful spot behind both Lee and Ramirez. If he's hitting 1st or 2nd.

True, but that depends on who else we can get to lead off. Id be afraid with his speed he would be automatically put at the top of the order. Besides, don't we have enough power on the team already? I know teams always want more, but one of the very few dependable options we have to get on base (Walker) should not be used for yet another power hitter/weak fielding option.

Of course, it does seem like Hendry is dead-set against having Walker return, so maybe now that is just wishful thinking anyway.

I believe that not getting Furcal CAN be that bad. Considering Neifi might be the starter I can tell you right now the situation can get really ugly.

Worst Case Scenario: Hendry goes into the season with Cedeno at SS and Neifi at 2b. Cedeno struggles out of the gate so Dusty decides to move Neifi over to SS and start Macias everyday at 2b.

With Dusty this is very possible. I won't stand for either of the two being starters.

What would you do burn down Wrigley or something of that nature??

I do, with the number of homers that Lee and Ramirez hit!

Vlad actually earns just $14m per. That contract, along with the Tejada one, is looking like an absolute bargain these crazy days.

Why don't you just resign Nomar to play SS and put Walker at 2B? It's unlikely Cedeno plays at all anyway.

With Hendry's new "I like guys who can catch the ball" mantra, I see about a .0000001% chance of that happening.

Plus, you gotta remember, Hendry already more or less told both of them to move on.

Yeah, both are as good as gone.

When did Hendry "more or less" tell Walker to move on?

He told Nomar he should "explore other options".

Honestly I forget exactly what he told walker.

What two holes does it fill? It gives you a RF who is not outstanding in Mench, and gives you a different 2B. 2B is not a hole. In addition, neither is capable of leading off, while Walker is (even if he's not likely to be used in that role).

Not to mention Walker and Williams are two of our biggest trading chips. Thats giving up an awful lot for not getting much in return (especially when you just know Soriano would be at the top of the lineup with his...speed).

You just reminded me that they'd also be taking on considerable salary to make this lateral move. Wow, this looks worse and worse teh more I look at it.

I don't think they look like bargains as much as they just further highlight how insane the Dodgers are.
