Well now that Furcal has signed with Dodgers how about getting Lugo from Tampa and maybe Huff as well?

Lugo would look nice at SS and #1 spot.

I agree, I'd rather go with Cedeno and fix holes elsewhere now. Since Hendry didn't get Furcal, that means he still has a war chest of like $22MM to $25MM to spend. And with the news this week that Kerry Wood is now uncertain to be available on opening day (gee, big surprise), I think this means the competition for AJ Burnett and Kevin Millwood is about to get a whole lot stronger.

Yes, if we are going to make a trade with Tampa, let's get an OFer. And, no, I don't consider Huff and OFer. He's not good at it. He was bad at 3B too. He's a 1B/DH. Last time I checked, we didn't need that.

Gomes, Crawford would be great, and to a lesser extent Gathright. Tampa has to do something, they don't have enough ABs to go around when you add in Huff, Baldelli, Delmon Young, Upton (who could eventually end up in the OF when they give up on his attempt at SS).

Williams, Pinto/Marmol/Nolasco, Craig(or the like) for Lugo and Gomes. Lugo may not be significantly better than Cedeno, but he's the perfect bridge to giving Cedeno the SS job in '07, after more AB's to build on his somewhat limited success.

We all know already that Atlanta will put together a better package than us for Lugo, cause they are actually capable of realistically evaluating talent and their needs.

And we all know Dusty will start Cedeno over Neifi the day Lucifer calls to borrow my snowblower.

It's a done deal, folks. Neifi's the everyday starting shortstop in '06

I'm still expecting Hendry to pull an Arod for Neifi deal... :pint:

It's already rumored that they will offer Marte straight up for Lugo once Furcal signs (so, Monday).

AJC has been reporting for a while now that Lugo was plan B for the Braves.

Agreed. Not only that, but taking on a big contract for Abreu or maybe Griffey would be no big deal with that much to spend.

I begining to get more interested in Bobby Abreu. I would say....Prior/Z/Pie/Guzman/Murton is off-limits...but I'd offer just about anybody for Abreu.

I read a lot of stuff on other boards about trading with the braves for betimit if Lugo goes to atlanta. Whats the point? we have cedeno and he projects to be very similar with stellar defence. I'm really not concearned about solving the leadoff hitter as there are options. The OF however could leave us with a large power outage.......
