It's been talked about in a couple different threads, but I think this needs it's own thread. Here's a link to the story:

Bonds, who played in only 14 games for the Giants last season after three knee surgeries and a bacterial infection, has been working out in Los Angeles under the supervision of physical therapist Clive Brewster, and the slugger has reportedly lost considerable weight. He has vowed to be around 200 pounds, some 40 pounds under his playing weight the last few seasons, to help his surgically repaired right knee.

Yeah, I really believe it's about helping his surgically repaired knee.

I know that it is inevitable that responses of "he's innocent 'til proven guilty!" and "So, everyone that loses weight are roid monsters?" will follow, but the entire Bonds saga has been laughable. Even without all of the other crap (pre-73 homer season quote when asked if he worked out more to get bigger, "No, I actually worked out less and stretched more.") his behavior since the drug testing has gotten stricter is damning in and of itself.

The saddest part is, we will never get to see what a fantastic player he would have been without the enhancements. The guy had all of the ability in the world.

He still does. Do you expect any less than a 320/430/550 line from him next season?

I have nothing else to add really, but I hate Barry Bonds. He's been doing stupid crap his entire career, steroids is just another log on the fire.

I meant before being embroiled in the current steroid controversey. I don't care what his line is now. As far as I'm concerned, his numbers are tainted.

no doubt. and i don't feel like fans should have to try and figure out what he would have done had he not done steroids. maybe he would have put up 320/430/550 w/o roids, but there's no way to tell, and i'm not about to give that cheater the benefit of the doubt.
