We'll just ignore that if Macias had simply been dumped one week earlier, Hendry could have protected Brandon Sing or Billy Petrick from the Rule 5 draft....

Why would a team take Sing in the Rule 5 draft when they could have merely signed him as a six-year minor league free agent?

Also, why would a team take an A-ball pitcher with a bum shoulder in the Rule 5 draft?

Isn't there enough to complain about without seeing stuff that's not there?

The "bum shoulder" didn't prevent the Marlins from selecting Luke Hagerty last year. Petrick is a stud. If he's healthy, he's gone.

You'll have to explain the Sing and six-year free agency thing to me, vis-a-vis the draft, because everything I've seen says if were put on the 40-man, he'd be protected.

To me, Aardsma would be the logical choice.

Why not Karonka?

maybe because koronka is a lefty and has some trade value?

How much can we trust this source? I mean, is this speculation or are you confident it's fact?

I am confident that, if you knew who the source was, you would trust him.

Whoever your source is, I'm sure he's better than mine. Wait, I don't know anybody...

His source may be better, but his avatar isn't even close. Me love sweaters...

Why not Karonka?

Left-handedness, and recent fall success outweigh Aardsma's right-handedness and complete meltdown since he's become a Cub. That said, I wouldn't bat an eye if Koronka was dropped.

I wish the Cubs would hurry up and cash in on it if this trade value actually exists.

Well, maybe both of them will be outrighted since critical mass is beginning to form on a Howry signing.

Assuming that meant Macias was still on the roster, I will do more than bat an eye.

I prefer the lack of a sweater.

With regards to Sing, he was a minor-league free agent at the end of last season(Any player who's spent 6 years in the minors with a team without being added to the 40 man roster becomes a free agent)

Essentially Sing was free to anyone without even the requirement of being put on their 40 man roster. Therefore it's gonna take a team with pretty much no foresight to take him in Rule 5.

I'm taking your philosophy on Neifi when it comes to Macias. He doesn't exist unless I hear about him.
