I was reading this article in the Minnesota Star Tribune, when I found this note near the bottom.

The Mets are interested in Detroit Tigers catcher Ivan Rodriguez. Rodriguez was signed as a 16-year-old by the Texas Rangers when current Mets general manager Omar Minaya was the Rangers' Caribbean director of scouting and Minaya's current assistant, Sandy Johnson, was the Rangers' scouting director. The Mets would like to unload infielder Kazuo Matsui, whose $8 million salary would help offset the $10 million Rodriguez will earn.

It looks like the Mets are in on almost every rumor I read this offseason.

that club is quickly spending itself into the gutter. if it wasn't for the low priced prospects already in the system (milledge, wright) they'd quickly spend themselves down to the bottom of the division. they could have been leaning on kazmir at this point, but we all know how that went.

they wanted sosa for god's sake. sammy sosa. at the beginning of the year, they wanted to dish floyd. that organization has "succeeded" almost in spite of itself.
