Baez and Huff to Mets?

Nov 9 - Mets GM Omar Minaya is working on a potential trade with the Devil Rays for closer Danys Baez and first baseman Aubrey Huff, the New York Daily News reports.

A D-Rays exec at the GM meetings in Indian Wells, Calif, told the newspaper that Minaya initiated discussions about a deal for Baez or Huff, or both.

I wouldn't mind Huff. Baez would be a decent arm out of the bullpen as well.

I saw the same rumor on CBS Sportsline and this deal might include Matsui, Heilman and some prospects. They would then use Baez and Huff as chips in trying to acquire Manny Ramirez. If that happens, they'll push even harder to sign Furcal, imo.

I don't think Furcal will pick 2B for the Mets over SS for the Cubs.

On the other hand, I've gotten wind of a far-fetched rumor that has the Mets dealing Matsuii in the above deal, dealing Reyes for Soriano, and then signing Furcal to play SS.

Doesn't reyes play some second base, or did that experiment bomb? They would have some wicked mean speed if they had Furcal, Reyes(who shouldnt be in the top of the order at this point in time but probably always will be) and Beltran(if last year was a fluke anyways)
