One the winner is decided, we will then start figuring out the salary/trade.

And as always, Dont vote unless you are participating in the 2006 thread.

I voted Giles because I don't think it's realistic that we could trade for Abreu. Even if he's available, I don't think it is feasable that the Cubs could put together a package of players to obtain him.

If we're going to have trade of Abreu as an option, I'd like to re-open the SS discussion and add trade for Arod.

I'd also like to nominate trading for Vlad as another option for RF. Giles is the most realistic and best option. He only costs money and we don't have to speculate on whether he's available or what player costs it would take.

If you want both, then vote abreu, then we would sign Giles after the fact.

Also, remember, first to twenty wins....

I don't think mentioning Vlad to show how farfetched an Abreu trade would be is fair because there have actually been rumblings that Bobby Abreu is available.

Can we reopen the shortstop discussion to include Arod?

Both will cost about the same in money and will produce similar numbers but only one will cost the Cubs a lot in players.

Even though Abreu is three years younger, I still think Giles' production will be similar to Abreu's over the next several seasons. This one shouldn't be as close as it is. Giles...easily.

And, if both were an option, I'd pick it. We aren't discussing what we think will happen, we're discussing what our plan of attack should be. If there is a way for the Cubs to acquire Abreu by trading Murton and others without breaking the bank (Pie), I'd do it in a heartbeat. Wouldn't you?

Giles in left, Patterson in center and Abreu in right. Let Patterson bat 8th until he figures it out. And if he never does, who cares?

My only problem with that would be if we did that is that we made decisions after that of shortstop under the understanding nomar was the SS. I am affraid that might change what we would have done in other positions (well, left field).
