Tribune headline states "Baker annoyed by contract extension talks".

If he is annoyed, just think how annoyed all of the Cub fans are.

Annoyed that they are taking so long or annoyed because he would rather leave?

Annoyed that there is discussion about it. It seems to be a foregone conclusion that he will get a 2-year extension by spring training.

i wonder what hendry was thinking when he watched baker lose the game yesterday by not pinch hitting for maddux and then letting him blow the lead the next inning? it would be a real crime if baker gets a 2 year extention with all the good young players the cubs have ready to contribute in the majors. i really thought that hill & jvb were sent home weeks ago as it was wuertz, ohman & novoa in the 6th, 7th & 8th for the whole month of sept. lets not forget it was baker who used hawkins to close, dempster to start & left rusch in the bullpen the 1st month + of the season. i wonder how many games difference it would have made if baker used them as hendry had said they were going to.

as long as he wasnt thinking "2 year extention". if a miracle happens & the cubs can unload baker & maddux doesnt come back next year, i'll be ecstatic.

I hate to sound like I'm overreacting, but if Baker gets a two-year extension, I'm not going to waste my time on the Cubs for a few years. I can't take it.

i feel the same way, but i have a feeling i'll be here just the same. :(

I totally agree and I have posted often that I think Baker's managing and stubborness cost this team about 10 wins. That's not competing with the Cards, but it puts us in the playoffs as the WC. Also, don't forget batting Neifi, Corey, and Macias at the top of the lineup for much of the season.

what gets me is that baker did the opposite of what hendry implied was going to happen before the season started. i certainly hope that if baker does stay around next year he is not making all the decisions he was allowed to make going into 05.
