Maybe not exactly the right time to post this, since he's done for the season with some toe injury, but why have the Marlins never given the C/1B/3B/LF a chance to play?

Now that they really did blow it by giving every position he can play a guy with a big contrac to play it (Lo Duca, Delgado, Lowell, and Encarnacion), they might actually waste a bat like his by making him a bench player.

The guy has put up .272/.412/.493 batting line during his minor league career, and this year was hitting .324 with a .616 SLG% in AAA. In 219 ABs there he also drew 47 BBs.

He's 26, he deserves a shot somewhere. He can hit for decent average, has alot of power, draws alot of walks, and doesn't K much for a guy with that skillset.

Make him the Cubs new LFer Jim Hendry.

BTW - I do know the reason he plays so many positions is because he is not the master of any. But from what I've seen hes athletic enough that he can handle in LF, and its not like you get a LFer for defense anyway. His power and paitence should more than make up for it...

This was his first year at AAA and the Marlins did call him up and use him as a pitch hitter. They are in a playoff race, so that might explain why he hasn't seen a lot of action, but I think he is a part of their future plans especially since Encarcion is in his last year and they will let him walk. What's this about Willingham's toe inujury? I thought he was still on the roster and pitch hit the other day.

I don't see the Marlins giving up this guy since he is cheap, under their control for several years, has the potential to be productive and can replace a player that is signing elsewhere in the offseason.

He makes a sweet back-up for Barrett in MVP 2005...that should translate pretty well to real life, no?

Well Macias sucks on that game, and Perez doesn't draw walks, so its pretty realistic...wait Patterson's hitting .330? Nevermind, scrap that.

Willingham starts for my royals team in MVP, but he got hurt the last week of the season. Sammy Sosa hit a series winning homer against the Yankees for me last night against Flash Gordon, exciting stuff.

Traded Patterson for Greinke midseason in 1st year

6 years into franchise Greinke has 2 CY's and a WS MVP.
