Dusty is the worst manager I've endured in my 18 years of watching this team. We've had some horrible guys in charge over the years, but none of them made bizzare and stupid part of the routine the way Baker does.

 

Worst tactician/pen usage in my 36 years.

I can live with mistakes from time to time they'll happen but, I agree, he consistently makes the same mistakes game in and game out. There's no other word for it other than stupidity.

Didn't he win two consecutive starts earlier this season? Pitching something like 14 consecutive shutout innings? Beyond that, you're correct, he's been terrible perhaps, I should have written something like: whatever chance Mitre has at effectiveness is as a starter. The point being he should not be used in relief.

The sad truth about this mistake in the use of Mitre is we'll get a chance to see it again before the season ends.

It's just sad. Baker was brought here to help rid the Cubs of the stigma of failure - but because of him, the organization is as big a joke now as it's been at any point since the strike, IMHO.

 

No matter how good this team gets, no matter how close we get to real, sustained success, Dusty will be there to somehow screw it all up.
