I agree we should be taking a look at both Patterson and Murton to see what we want to do with them next year.

Absolutely. If we were in the race I'd say sit Patterson but since we're not there's no reason not to play him. Murton should of course play instead of Burnitz. Burnitz's presence has became a cancer.

how so? :?

It's not Burnitz's fault, but our dumbass manager is wasting valuable at bats on him every day.

Hairston to CF & Murton to LF, please!

Why?

B/C CPatt's a major liability offensively. He is clearly not big league material. An absolute joke @ the plate.

The games don't matter anymore. Wouldn't it make sense to have Corey try and improve his trade value(or earn a spot on next year's team, however you look at it)? We pretty much know what we've got with Hairston. Besides, with the defensive differential, Hairston's only marginally better than Patterson on the whole.

Hasn't the CPatt experiment already been run into the ground? Time for the Cubs to cut their losses & get rid of this head case!

PLAY MURTON BENCH K PATTERSON!!!

Patterson struck out swinging

Seriously, can we please cut Corey now? Cut him, release him, designate him for assignment----anything to end his career as a Cub.

There's no question he would rather not take another at bat as a Cub. And frankly I don't care to see him take another at bat as a Cub. End it already. It's over.

Amen to that!

I doubt he would even crack anyone's big league roster!

hahaha, beautiful K by Prior on Nunez.

no offense, but I'm to the point now where I think no strike out by Mark Prior is beautiful. he will never return to the dominant pitcher we saw two years ago if he doesn't start pitching to some contact and stop pitching the count full after getting ahead early. his infatuation with striking guys out is absurd. on pace to yet again not make it into the seventh.

CUBS are 44-38 when the opponents strikeout 8 or less times, 21-32 when they K more than 8 times.

Interesting, do you think that stat means something or is it just plain freaky?

When you graph oppenents strikeouts vs. CUBS winning pct... it doesn't appear to be a stron correlation..... so, I guess I'd vote for freaky.
