Anyone going to this series? I'd be interested in meeting up with some NSBBers before or after the Sat. game at a bar close by. Any takers that wouldn't be afraid to be seen with a Card fan?

I'll be around. Of course I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen with a fellow Redbird ;)

My Dad may be giving me his tickets because he's done with the Cubs at this point.

Sounds good, CCF! I was hoping you'd respond. I'll look you up. Congrats on your 1000th post!

It'll take a miracle to keep you guys from clinching at Wrigley. Try not to make asses of yourselves. :pals:

I'll be good. I can't speak for the rest of Cardinal Nation. It's looking like a lot of Cub fans are dumping tickets for this series to make a little money. It should be a VERY red crowd for this weekend's games. ;)

I can't blame you for living it up. If memory serves, the last visiting team to clinch a playoff berth at Wrigley was the '73 Mets, so it's not something that comes around all that often.

I'm pretty much numb to the trappings of embarassment and fiasco thanks to Baker, so it won't bother me too much. Nothing short of a bunch of pathetic Sox rodents celebrating could ever top the horrible Marlins pennant party.

Agreed.

Though with a win this afternoon, and a Houston loss the Cards will get to celebrate in a hotel room or something of the sort. That should cut back on things at Wrigley following their next win (Last year they didnt clebrate after the Houston loss and their loss on the same day, waited until they won the following day IIRC)

Won't it just take a Cardinal win this afternoon followed by a Houston loss tonight to clinch?

Nevermind, Garwilly beat me to it.

With a lineup featuring John Gall (23 career at-bats) as the clean-up hitter, followed by So Taguchi, Scott Seabol, Einar Diaz, and Hector Luna............

I'd say that Larussa isn't overly anxious to clinch today.

Yeah, but the way things have gone this season I'd be shocked if we were spared the indignity.

Cards just lost 5-3 againts the Bucs. That means they're guaranteed to clinch here this weekend.

[sarcasm on] Looking forward to all the smug Cards fan coming to town. [sarcasm off] Disgusted to see the mile long page on stubhub.com for available tickets.

After last year, you'll probably hear a lot of Cards fans talking about being worried about the World Series, and not "rubbing" the Cubs about the division title. We haven't won anything yet. All it takes are a few rude comments from either side, but I hope it's just a good weekend for baseball.

There's no reason for the Cards fans to be smug, and no reason for the Cubs fans to take out their season on anyone else.

My wife and I will be attending Saturday's game.

Enjoy the game.

How's it to be back in Illinois? Hope all is going well for you and your family post-move.

Thanks...it's really good to be back. Better job, closer to Wrigley (always important), and hopefully after we save up for a month or two, we'll be able to buy a house...

We're both pretty pleased. :D

Man Eating Tarp, I sold my tix to today's game  .

Did you by chance get doused with champagne by the players outside of the clubhouse as has been reported?

My last game of the year and lasting impression of the '05 Cubs is the Sunday debacle against the DBacks about a month ago.

I'll be in Clev. for the final weekend of the year and hopefully the playoffs as well. Between Clev. and STL, the decision to drive 4+ hours is quite an easy one of which city to go to.
