The Cubs inexplicably won a game this past evening and they look to add to their modest one game winning streak tomorrow.

They were to face arguably one of the worst contract's in history (second only to Arliss being signed for many seasons on HBO) in Mike Hampton who comes in at a solid 5-3 record and a 3.5. ERA.

However, Hampton was placed on the DL not 30 seconds ago according to the score, so we shall see Jorge Sosa in his place. Sosa is 9-2 with a 2.63 ERA and will likely have great success against our swing happy offense. Sosa has had control issues, walking 45 guys in 92.2 innings. I'm hoping we can take advantage of this. Odds are we won't, but we can still hope!

The Cubs counter with Mark Prior who has been good all season, though not the great we were anticipating coming into the season. Record of 9-4, but an ERA of 3.66 that I, for one, expected to be lower this season.

Lets do this thing, and take a series for once!

Go Cubs!

HOU lost.

PHI won big.

NYM destroyed the Dbags.

Ok, I think this is right. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong of course:

NL Wild Card Standings (Start of Day, 8/24)

PHI ---
HOU 0.5
FLA 1.0
WSH 2.0
NYM 2.0
MIL 5.5
CHC 6.5

Best case scenario today:

CHC defeats ATL
ARZ defeats NYM
MIL defeats FLA
SD defeats HOU
SF defeats PHI
CIN defeats WSH
BUSH declares war on NL EAST ("Bobby Cox hates freedom")

Would result in:

PHI ---
HOU 0.5
FLA 2.0
WSH 3.0
NYM 3.0
MIL 4.5
CHC 5.5

Go CUBS !!!!

I'll be watching !!

Well, if not watching last night means that happens, I'm gonna get me some sleep as this season draws to a conclusion.

GO CUBS!

This game worries me. I've seen Sosa pitch and even though he allows a lot of hits he always seems to get out of trouble (hence the 2.63 ERA). Today's win is not a given. Prior will need to pitch well.

Where on the web might one find lineups?

I'm sure there are more.

I've checked all of the above and none of today's lineups. I thought they are usually available by this time

Sometimes it takes them forever to put out the lineups. I don't know why.

Perez batting 6th =

I'm not trying to praise Neifi or anything, but he does have a 7-game hitting streak going, and he had 2 RBI yesterday.

Oh, and he's batting .389 over his last 10 games.

How is this team scoring any runs? Those 5-8 hitters are just not good (I'm not saying we have a lot of alternatives, which I guess makes it worse).

Bite your tongue! Blanco did have it turned around for a bit there.

And besides, how's Dusty sposed to make lemonade in there if he doesn't have at least 4 lemons in the lineup??
