Hard to imagine him staying in Florida. I see Boston as the team he goes to in the offseason, the Yankees will want him but things will be changing in the AL East.

I'll guess that he ends up in Los Angeles. Though, at this point, I'm not sure if Angels or Dodgers.

I don't know if Boston will go hard after him, or not? I know the Yankees will probably be in the mix...........how can they not be? My brother-in-law is a huge Yankee fan and lives out in CT, there's alot of talk about the Yankees signing both Burnett and Damon. They lose some 50-60 million in payroll at the end of they year.............Bernie and Kevin Brown. They will resign Matsui, I don't think he's going anywhere. They have to have some arms to compete, though and who's going to trade with them? They don't have alot of talent outside of low ball in the minors. Not really anyone close to the ML.

AJB will be an Angel no doubt. With Washburn headed to the Bronx. The yankees want a lefty.

It's not like the Bronx bombers are on a budget. They may get both!

Sounds like Carl Pavano all over again. Inconsistent career marked by a stellar season in a contract year....good luck George. Might see another bust in the Bronx.

That was exactly what I was thinking. Jaret Wright, too.

Player A Road splits: 2.90 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 8.07 K/9

Player B Road splits: 2.93 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 7.04 K/9

Can you tell which is Burnett and which is Millwood?

player a appears to be burnett's season line both home and away.

burnett's actually 3.51 era, 1.28 whip, 6.36 k/9 on the road.

Gah. Well, that illustrates the point more I guess.

except Wright never had a stellar season. In fact, he has been horrible everywhere except Atlanta, where he only managed to post 3.28/1.28/2.12 (ERA/WHIP/ K/BB). Before that, the best he managed was 4.72/1.53/1.54, in his only otehr full season as a starter in 98. Wright is horrible, even from the pen where he was in 03 with the Padres, posting a 8.37 ERA in 39 games (47.1 IP, 69 hits, 44 ER).

As another note on the yankees, they have used 25 different pitchers this year already (Tied for lead with the Rangers and Marlins).

The Twins are at the least with 13.

The Royals and Devil Rays have used 20 or 21 (cant remember).

Another example of a starting pitcher who shined for a brief period in Atlanta, , and struggled when he went to another team (Denny Neagle and John Burkett being the other two examples that come to mind).

Awesome avatar btw, SweetPete.

If I were the Indians, I'd try to retain Millwood and go after AJB and lock up that division. That offense is only going to get better (and most of those guys are still really cheap).

I really doubt it will happen. Apparently their payroll isn't going up at all until more fans start showing up. That means there's virtually no chance of retaining Millwood, never mind AJB.

I think the mid to late 90's is strong evidence that if they put out a team that should win 90-100 games, the fans will show up in mass numbers.

That's true, but the new owner is waiting for the fans to come to raise the payroll. That's not going to happen before Millwood and AJB are long gone.

Burnett is much better than Pavano and Wright. Even last year coming back from TJ surgery he was lights out down the stretch. Burnett is the real deal.
