Sutcliffe said the "word around the ballpark" was that Flloyd was coming to the Cardinals. He didn't claim to have any inside information durring last night's game vs the diamondbacks

 

 

hmmm...would give time off to our ofers and a good dh in the ws....if we can get there. Curious about his contract though.

Why would the Mets deal Floyd? They are in the hunt for the NL Wild Card and need his offense if they are going to make a run at it --- especially with another of their outfielders in Cameron on the DL.

yeah it doesnt make sense to me either but if they fold b4 the 31st then I could understand but not till then.

Just read on a link from prosportsdaily.com that the Cardinals tried to pry Giles loose from the Padres last night. He must have cleared waivers. I'd hate to see him in a Cards uni next year.

If they trade for Giles, they'd still have to re-sign him at the end of the year. He'd only be a rental for the remainder of the season.

The Cards have a history of trading for players who were to be free agents and then signing them to a new contract. Rolen for one and maybe McGuire and Edmonds, I can't remember for sure.
