I have a feeling there will be like 2 people there, but we'll go live.

draft set for this Sunday at 8 pm.

Well, I'll be drunk, but I may be there.

Trade offered for you truffle.

Shanahan for Tkachuk.

Hmm, that sounds like a very fair offer, about 10 years ago. Make me an offer with Pitkanen, I like that guy.

BTW, I went on the draft site and it said the draft would be at 9 PM EST, and when I got there at that time it was almost done... what gives? I am pretty happy with my team, just curious what happened...

Also, it would be nice if my first round pick would actually show up to play in the NHL this season, since I'm pretty sure that whatever stats he puts up in Russia will not count toward our scoring.

I don't know about the draft time since I wasn't even there. Who was your first rounder? Datsyuk?

Ah...Kovalchuk.

Well ok then, new offer.

I get:

K. Tkachuk (StL - LW)

I. Kovalchuk NA (Atl - LW)

J. Leopold (Cgy - D)

You get:

B. Shanahan (Det - LW)

V. Prospal (TB - LW)

J. Pitkanen (Phi - D)

Basically I want Ktachuk because I'm a big homer. If you want to take the chance on Ilya then we can leave he and Prospal out of it and just trade Leopold/Tkachuk for Pitkanen/Shanahan. Oddly enough I had a waiver out for a D man and Pitkanen dropped until you said that. I'll just drop Leopold as soon as we trade and pick up said player probably anyway.

Wait, so that offer is your 6th, 11th and 12th round picks for my 1st, 3rd and 15th round picks? Sorry but I am gonna have to shoot that one down. My team is basically in the crapper is Ilya sits out the whole year. I made this counterproposal:

You get:

Tkachuk - LW

Glen Murray - RW

Leopold - D

I get:

Shanahan - LW

Hejduk - RW

Pitkanen - D

That's a 3rd, 6th and 15th rounder for a 4th, 6th and 12th rounder... pretty fair I think, and we both get to satisfy our homer urges.

Yeah I had a feeling that wouldn't fly. I was just hoping you were thinking there was no chance Ilya was playing. I hear they're close to a deal.

I'm really torn. I don't really want to give up Hejduk, but I think Thachuk will be a monster with the new rules. It all depends on Murray VS. Hejduk. Give me a sec to think...

Murray has only had one big year, but I'm going to go for it. I like the skilled power forwards in the new NHL. I think they are going to be harder to contain if you can't obstruct.

I still think at face value you're getting the better deal. I'm just hoping my feelings about Tkachuk and Murray are right.

What?! Hockey isn't big in the south?

...or anywhere but Canada?

When I lived in Dallas, I went to a the Stars games. I had a good time, but really don't enjoy it on TV. I don't follow it enough to care.

Yeah, hockey is one of those sports that doesnt translate to TV well.

Not a hockey fan, but I disagree with you. I think that televised hockey is nearly everything that televised soccer should be but isn't.

Murray has only had the one big year (42G/90P) but even last year he wasn't bad. I am rolling the dice on Hejduk having a big year and stepping up in the absence of Forsberg... of course, he could decline with Forsberg in Philly and with more of a weight falling on his shoulders, but that's a chance I'm willing to take. It's a close deal and an interesting one, and it'll be cool to see how it turns out. I can't see any reason why people would object to it, so I think it'll go through.

My team is running up the score... I may have victory locked up in the next two weeks, I think :P

yeah..i'm impressed.

My team in my other league (the one that costs money) just opened up a 7-point lead at the top, so that along with the second place standing in this league means I can't really complain.
