If Baker comes back next season I might actually change my name to

"OldHappyCardFan"

and cheer for the Cards.

With this bit of information, I have called TLR for a favor. And he has allowed me to make out the lineup Card for the rest of the Cubs series.

Diaz C (I think he has the tools to be a fine leadoff hitter)

Mahoney CF (Great contact guy with a high BA, I think????)

Seabol SS (I think he is still with the big club?)

So 1st (He is a power hitter deluxe, plus a nice big target at 1st- 5ft 0in)

Mabry 2nd (left handed 2nd baseman let's give it a shot)

Luna P (he has a good arm)

Marquis RF (see if he can maintain the BA as a regular player)

Eck 3rd (I want to see if he can actually make a throw across the diamond

JRod LF (I just want to see if he can continue to hit)

This should help Dusty maintain his job security until next year. Plus bring some Cub fans over to Cardinal Nation.

Well, I guess I can't dodge the board as long as Vance's team is kicking my butt.

So, when is the board going to get together for a Chicago party?

CCF, I agree with the other fellas, don't leave. I know there's alot of negativity here these days, but it will subside (I hope).

Are you going to the Lincoln Square Oktoberfest Sep 9, 10, & 11?

I am planning on it!

Of course, and I'd love to hook up and buy you a beer!

SIU grads have to stick together!

Either way, the Cards fans should stick around, and hopefully help celebrate Baker's firing.

Dusty's firing will be a dark day for me and much of Cardinals Nation.

Sadly the boobs running the Chicago Cubs don't see this fact that constantly hits us in the face. The man took the most talented team on paper last year and didn't make the playoffs. Meanwhile Tony Larusa took a team that by many writer's accoutns was a third place talent level(they were wrong) and won 150 games(or so it seemed). Meanwhile we got fed the whole, "well if the guys were all healthy," crap. I just wonder how nice it must feel to be a cardinals fan, being so much better than your division that your entire team gets hurt and you only have a 10 game lead on everybody.

It feels alright. :P

Let's just say it felt a lot better last year. After the World Series, it has most Cardinals fans feeling that anything less than a World Series ring would be a failure. Especially after what we gave up to get Mulder.

Edit - For some reason I wrote Carpenter instead of Mulder. I had Carp on the mind I guess.

I assume you mean Mulder, since Carpenter is basically the steal of the century... I don't know exactly what he's making, but it sure as hell isn't commensurate with his performance.

And I know the feeling, like a championship is the only acceptible outcome. That's how I've felt about the Flyers in certain years, the Eagles the last few years, and the Cubs last year. It always ends in failure and abject disappointment... at least if you root for loser franchises like the ones I favor.
