PLZ REDS GET SOME RUNZ

(so Baker gets the hook)

Are you kidding us? Let me guess, you'd trade a playoff appearance for a losing season just so Baker will get canned, right? Brilliant strategy.

We're not going to the playoffs this year, barring divine intervention. The worst thing that could possibly happen would be for the team play just well enough to linger on the periphery of the WC race and allow Dusty to keep his job. There is no playoff berth on the line anymore. The worst case scenario is Dusty comes back and we have to watch this garbage in 2006.

The nation's top returning tackler. Has a great work ethic, too.

Yeah, there was a tight group of guys on that high school team that busted their @$$es to get where they are today. Hard work breeds hard work.

It worked, he's at Northwestern, and Santucci is starting at Notre Dame now.

Yup. He's earned it. Randy Walker once asked what the heck was wrong with him because he puts forth so much effort during practices.

That'll help Lee's SLG %.

And Ramirez is going out swinging for the fences again instead of driving the ball.

Also, let's give it up for CPatt, who started the two run rally.

With a team this streaky, they're never out of it until you are really out of it. By the same token, nothing is garaunteed unless it is mathematically impossible for anything else to happen.

when will we be making the playoffs? we are 7 back....will we continue to play for the wild card when we are 15 out with 15 to play?

Yep, those two were horses in high school. I'd come into the weight room after they had been there for a half hour. I'd do my whole workout, and leave. And they'd still be in there long after I was gone. I honestly hope they can both turn that effort into NFL careers.

Come on guys, we can't leave another stranded like this.

well as usual there seems to be no shortage of hot women at the game. :)

they think it's a bar and the ticket price was the cover charge.....they are just waiting for the band to play.....

I see absolutely no point in rooting against your team, period. And, there have been lots of teams who have come back from seven games out in August to win pennants or division titles. If the NL were stronger, than I'd be less optimistic. But it makes no sense to root against your team.

That is true, but there is something to be said for probability. Given the problems we have, personnel, management and fundamental, I just can't see the Cubs making the playoffs. This team needs to be overhauled, and I for one would not hesitate to trade what faint and fleeting hope we have of reaching the post season for the guarantee of a house cleaning in the offseason. I personally don't believe this team can win the WS under Dusty Baker. And since that is really the prime objective, we need to get him out with as much time remaining in our talent window as possible.

On Sportsline, all 9 sections of the Hot/Cold graphic is cold for Nomar. :x

He must've caught Neifi's unluckiness when he pulled his socks up to be like him.

i agree, i don't root against my team but we aren't making the playoffs , so i certainly understand why someone would say want the team to fail to get something done(like firing dusty), it's kind of like hoping you lose your last game to get the #1 pick in the draft

So, does Casey own Prior today free and clear, or is he just leasing?

I hope he just owns him. Leasing is a silly and foolish thing to do. It's just not as cost effective as ownership, unless you're very wealthy.
