I changed the Iowa starter from Piggy to Mitre, who's making the start tonight. Carmen looks to be out of the rotation. I think Darin Downs should be going for Boise on an extra day of rest (because of the Veal promotion), but I'm not sure about that. And I'm less sure about the Mesa starter. It's either Pawelek or whoever pitched the game 6 days ago that never had the box score.

From today's BA Daily Dish:

The Cubs signed 12th-round pick Yusuf Carter, a catcher out of El Paso Community College, and he made an impact in his first weekend in the Rookie-level Arizona League, going 3-for-9 for the weekend and swatting a home run in his third game Sunday in an 11-2 win against the Angels. Carter was drafted for the third time this year--the Mariners drafted him in the 38th round in 2003 out of a New York high school, and the A's drafted him in 2004 in the 34th round.

Shaver gave up 3 in the second, but they lead 7-3 after 5. Chris Walker is a 2-run triple.

Moore committed his 24th error of the season (throwing).

Woo! Corey is 2-2 with a solo HR and 2-run HR!

The first was to right and the second was to center.

And Mitre is pitching quite well through 4.

Corey is now 3-3 with 4 RBIs. He also now has 5 HRs at Iowa and a BA of .297.

Mitre is a groundball machine tonight.

Both Patterson and Mitre are out. Corey finishes 3-3 with 2 HRs, 4 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Mitre went 5 shutout innings, giving up just 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2. He had a groundout to flyout ratio of 11 to 2.

Carmen in to pitch for the I-Cubs.

bring up corey, he can't hurt the team any

Perhaps he's packing his bags right now.

I'd rather him work for a couple of more weeks down there. The atmosphere at Wrigley is going to be hostile, anyways, so waiting until 99% of the fans have accepted the season might be a good idea.

With Pie (hopefully) coming off the DL tomorrow and the possibility of Patterson being called back up (just my speculation), I'd imagine one of the West Tennessee OFers will be promoted to Iowa. Could it be Greenberg to Iowa until rosters expand with Coats vacating CF?

Bacon stole second but was gunned down trying to steal third on a very close play.

By the way, Norton was activated from the DL by Iowa.

Go Corey! Anyone able to watch the game? I cant complain about his number s tonight, but I still wonder whether he has actually changed anything.
