Waiver trades

I am just wondering, with a trade happening in august, do all players involved have to clear waivers, or just the player who is the person going to the contender. Because if the minor leaguers or who ever is being traded would have to clear waivers, few trades would go through.

 

So if anyone is certain on how these deals go down, please explain in simple terms.

I think that any player on the 40-man roster must clear waivers, but it may just be on the 25 man. This is something I'm not certain about.
