When Williamson and Wood get called up Friday, who goes down?

Mitre and ???

If we don't make a trade, maybe Rich Hill, or maybe Novoa.

Novoa and probably Cedeno.

Novoa hasnt been doing his job lately and I think sending Cedeno down is the best option. He's rotting on the bench and it would be better if he was playing in Iowa and improving.

They will all be definately be called back up in a month when the MLB roster limit increased from 25 to 40 (Sept. Call-ups.)

Maybe the club feels that Rusch's experience down the stretch would be benificial.

I'm not saying I would send him down. I wouldn't. Just trying to mind read.

'Course, if we make a trade, that could free up room.

Wuertz could also be an option to send down.

I agree with Weurtz being sent down. He's having a hard time right now and needs to get his confidence back.

Ok, we could send Wuertz along with Novoa, Cedeno, and Mitre. If we send all four down, I want Jermaine Van Buren and David Aardsma called up. I want to see David Aardsma's awesome knucklecurve!

JVB isnt on the 40 man.

Which brings up the point of what we are goign to do when Nomar and Williamson come off the 60 day DL. By my count that puts us at 41 on the roster.

Mitre (bad in the relief role) and Cedeno (3 shortstops is 1 too many, he will get called back up in September for baserunning, etc.).

I could easily see Hendry trading either Holly or Grieve for a mid level (non 40 man roster) prospect to a contender that needs a LH pinch hitter for the stretch run. It makes no sense to have Gerut, Holly and Grieve all on the 40 man when they are essentially the same type of player.

Wuertz, Mitre and Cedeno check back into the Des Moines Marriott.

Grieve gets DFA'd off the 40-man or Greenberg is moved to the 60 day DL so Chad Fox won't be lonely.

Wont there be 3 new spots activated (Wood, Garciaparra, and Willamson)? This question may be answered by a trade today but as things currently stand, I would think that Mitre, Wuertz (possibly), and Cedeno would be headed down. Your guess is as good as mine.

Id have to say that barring a trade, Cedeno and Mitre are near locks and probably a coin flip between Novoa and Wuertz.

I'd have to say Wuertz has a greater chance of being sent down because of his control issues.

Except Novoa has worse control issues.

Not lately. Wuertz has been terrible.

This would be a great opportunity to reduce the pitchers to 11. I say, when the Cubs activate Wood, Williamson and Nomar, they should send down Mitre and Wuertz, and DFA Mike Remlinger.
