This loss isn't on the bullpen. Or Baker. It's on our gutless hitting in the clutch. Baker ran out a line-up we've been asking for (minus Walker) and every single guy choked. Every. Single. Guy.

Playoff teams do not give away games to slapdick teams like Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, San Francisco and Arizona.

Here's hoping:

1) Prior is economical w/pitches tomorrow

2) Cubs can find their bats with men on 3rd (or 1st, or with the bases empty)

3) Nomar finds his stroke - soon!

4) MLB.TV dosen't make me listen to Thom and Gracie tomorrow

Well, the Cubs have just their third poor game in their last 20. Bound to happen every now and then.

They've had several poor games in that stretch, but we've had some of the Washington National's type luck. That luck is going to run out, we've gotta start playing better ball and executing early in the game.

Exactly, I'm not going to put much stock in it.

Prior to coming here the Diamond backs won back to back series against the Braves and Brewers so they are streaking abit. I don't expect the Cubs to win every game but they need to win this series.

This is a wasted homestand regardless of what happens the next three days. Should have been 7-0 against these two teams. What a waste.

this is ridiculous. To expect an undefeated homestand regardless of the opposition is WAY to high. The expectation would be to win both series. a 5-2 homestand is more then accpetable.

this was like the Jason Jennings game. 1st game of a 4 game set, swing early and often in the count, waste a good start by a pitcher. I'd like the end result of that 4 game set though with the Rockies...they won the last 3 of them. Let's do that to the D'Backs plz.

If the Cubs are gonna blow the season, I want them to lose like 20 games in a row. That way Baker gets fired, and some other morons get DFAed.

Dusty Baker is not going to be fired. The Cubs would have to pay him 4 million dollars to go fishing. This isn't Cincy, that's not going to happen.

I wouldn't say it's impossible for Dusty to get fired, but something would have to change for the worse for it to happen.

It's not ridiculous when you're playing two lousy offensive teams like San Francisco and Arizona.

And remember, it's tough to go on a long winning streak if you're incapable of sweeping even one series.

I'm starting to think this is going to go like 2004. They'll dink around in August and September and give away just enough games to not have the wild card sewn up before the last series of the year then completely collapse in Houston to end the season.

And Baker will keep his job.

If we can pay Sammy $12 million to play in Baltimore this year, why can't we buy out Dusty's contract and send his fat butt packing?
