This angers me to no end. Barrett, Walker, and Burnitz have choked so many times in the past 5 games. These guys coulden't get a base hit when it mattered most.

Then you have Rammy swinging for the fence when the wind is blowing in.

This offense may have nice stats, but that doesen't mean anything in the win colum. Need alot more runs and OBP.

Please Hendry, help this offense. IT SUCKS.

Cubs are 1st in SLG, 2nd in BA, and 9th in OBP, and 5th in runs in the NL.

The offense isn't bad, it is streaky.

Compare that with the pitching, which in 9th in runs allowed.

We also could stand to take a few more walks.

That is always true, but they are about average at getting on base, and clearly capable of scoring. I don't know if a higher OBP will fix the streakiness. To do that, they need to be a little more luck in key situations and execute when it is necessary.

Higher OBP will fix the problems the offense has. Get more guys on base=score more runs. 9th in OBP for a $100 mil team is pathetic.

Ah the usual optimism.

The offense hasn't been great, but that's not the only reason for our record. The pitching hasn't been what was expected either.

Macias in CF? why?

Huh?

Yeah, I see him there. I guess Dusty got tired of Hairston already.

Hairston probably said something like "you should play Murton more often, Dusty" and Dusty said "sit down Jerry"

More runs and OBP are always good, but that won't necessarily fix the streakiness of the team. Besides, I think the offense has contributed a lot to the season. Like I said, the team is 5th in runs scored in the NL. The Cubs have won plenty of games on the strength of their sluggers, though they have lost on the streakiness of the bats. That 4.25 team ERA isn't doing the team any favors, though, especially since the staff should be able to do much better.
