Which of the moves listed would make the biggest impact on the cubs chance at the playoffs?

And other does not count firing Dusty because we all know that would be the winner of the poll.

If Nomar returns to form he will be a major shot in the arm for this team. If he hits at his career average, he will replace Neifi and add 50 points of batting average, not to mention his power.

Couple this with Murton getting the majority of starts and that is one formidable lineup.

Problem is, Dusty is not going to give Murton the majority of the starts. That's why I think we need to get someone like Huff, Dunn or Kearns and have Murton returned to AA, because otherwise we'll just keep seeing Hollandsworth get most of the PT with Murton only starting against the lefties. I'd love to see Murton play every day right now, but Baker won't do it.

I'm saying Nomar successfully returning will be the biggest impact simply because it's the most realistic. Adding a LF i hope we can do, but i'm in doubt about that, i highly doubt Hendry is going to add a real significant bullpen arm for help down the stretch. Williamson helping the pen out would be 2nd for my vote.

Very interesting that the poll thus far shows that Kerry pitching well the rest of the season would have the biggest impact on this team - yet there's a "trade wood" thread every 2 weeks on here......

Have faith.....have faith..... :) :)

I vote Nomar returning. It's unlikely we'll acquire an impact bat for LF at this point (and Holly's actually not playing that poorly right now). And I have even less faith that Wood will be healthy the rest of the way. The return of Nomar has the added effect of getting Neifi and his sub-.300 OBP out of the lineup.

Of the choices above, Wood "pitching well the rest of the season" would have the greatest impact - if "pitching well" means "pitching like an ace every 5th day" - which I think it should in his case. But it's hard to believe he'll be healthy and throwing well for 2+ months when he has had shoulder trouble all year. I can't blame people for wanting to trade Wood or move him to the pen. Frustration really takes its toll, especially after 7 years of waiting for a healthy season. I've been a huge Kerry fan since 98, but his continued inability to stay healthy has pushed me off the bandwagon.
