Kerry Wood to the pen?

Dont know if this has already been discussed, but what do you guys think about the chance of K-dub movin to the pen? He doesnt seem to be able to stay healthy, so why not use his skills to slam the door shut? Wud hate to see him go down again.. :cry:

But it might happen. Rothschild said today that if they don't think Kerry will be healthy enough to start the rest of this season but that his shoulder would hold up out of the 'pen, they'd move him there.

I think a good question would be would you rather have Wood starting 3 games and then having to miss a couple weeks, or would you rather have him coming out of the bullpen? Tough call.

Only if he's not healthy enough to start and pitching in the pen doesn't further aggravate the shoulder.

 

I'm skeptical on both points.

The only thing that concerns me is that Wood's worst stuff seems to be when he's pitching in the 1st and 2nd inning. 3rd-7th inning Wood is dominating though.

Wood is hurt too much, and it's pitching related. Prior has only had 1 pitching injury. Make Wood a reliver. Rotaation next year: Big Z, Prior, Mad Dog, Rusch, and Williams. Rusch has a player option that he would be wise to decline, WOod is signed through 06, Williams is protected, Prior is under contrac and protected, Big Z is protected, and barring major injury, Mad Dog will vest his 06 contract.
