That's what I figured as well.... does any other team have a number retired with 2 different players.

Fergie's number isn't retired, and it probably should have been. Personally, I think two factors kept it from happening. First, he didn't play his entire career with the Cubs. Secondly, and likely most importantly, around the time Fergie retired he was busted for drugs at the Canadian border. I'm sure that reason caused the Cubs to want to separate themselves from him for awhile. Now that Maddux has worn the number and Fergie has rehabilitated his image, I'm certain that there will be a dual retirement of the number after Maddux retires.

Fergie's number retirement was brought up at the Convention. It sounded like they will consider a co-retirement, but if it does happen, don't expect anything for a while.
