Just out of curiosity (not real familiar with the construction process) what part of the new stadium will actually be the "old" stadium. By looking at the picture, I am guessing home plate will be by the brick in the corner and the OF will be where the old stadium is. How much more can they do before starting to dig into the old stadium?

To be honest, I lived near St. Louis for 3 months and really enjoyed the old stadium. I was really surprised that they were going to build a new one. They turned it from a "cookie cutter" (most parks built in the 60's and 70's-see also Riverfront/Three Rivers/etc) into a really nice park. I had a great view from the OF bleachers everytime I went. Like I said, I thought it was a really nice park. Now for my Cubs bias...it still isn't Wrigley Field though.

Here is how the new stadium with be situated.

It will look out onto downtown St. Lou, and homeplate will draw a straight line to the Arch as I understand it. The old stadium will be imploded at the end of the Cards season (the day after they win the World Series ;) )

They are on schedule to open the park on time next season with the final construction to wrap up around the All-Star break.

Busch is a great place to go, and I will be really sad to see it go.

So RF will become LF basically. How many people will the new one hold?

Do you think there are people who are wishing the Cards lose (beside all of us :D ) in the first round of the playoffs to make sure the stadium stays on track. Also, are they planning to open it up to the highest bidder (Coors/Enron/Minute Maid/Miller) or are the going to call it New Busch.

It WILL hold 46,000 but for the 1st half of 2006 the seating capacity will be 31,000.

The Cardinals recently added a little "foul pole" in current Busch Stadium that is where the LF foul pole will be.

Still Busch Stadium, the Cardinals and Anheuser-Busch signed a 20 year naming deal last August. This will actually be the 3rd Busch Stadium, when Augie originally bought the Cardinals, he wanted to rename Sportsman's Park, Budweiser Field which was nixed by MLB, so Augie named it Busch Stadium and then came out with a beer called Busch not long after that.

:Deep Booming Voice: I hereby curse your new stadium (ala the old man with the billy goat at Wrigley). The Cardinals will never win in their new stadium. :/Deep Booming Voice:

 Now you'll have to wait until they rip down this new stadium and build a completely brand new one from scratch.

Although the foul pole in current Busch showing where the new foul pole will be is a nice touch.

LOL, Curse of the Cowbell it is.

Remember this day 75 years from now. The Cardinals will not win a World Series in their new stadium.
