I'm not trying to be inconsiderate, I am just trying to figure out why the topic of a hole that has been in place since baseball gloves were first invented is being discussed more than 130 years later.

I've always wondered why there was hole for the index finger but I never thought of asking NSBB until now.

I just got that new glove. It still has to be able to break in the ball. It's kind of tough to close and stuff. Im thinking of buying that stuff (forgot its name) for $5, putting it all over the glove and baking it. I'm sure some of you have done that before.

EDIT: It has a hole for the index finger! WOO!

It's still kinda hard to close the glove. Should I just play the waiting game?

Meh.

Personal preference.

For me , the finger hole is unnecessary. The glove is hard to close otherwise and if I'm at 1B and the SS throws hard, I wear a batting glove on that hand. The finger hole slows my ability to close the glove. If I play anywhere else, all fingers are in the glove, in their groove.

Guys in college would put two fingers outside the glove. I never understood that.

Wrap the glove with rubber bands and put it under your pillow when you sleep. It should lossen it up nicely, also lots and lots of catch. Good luck!

I am not sure if that treatment (Hot Glove)you have there wants you to microwave or bake your glove, most glove companies recommend staying away from any heat treatment,in fact most will not warrantee a glove in that situation....only true way to break in a glove is to play tons of catch and cover it in a conditioner like Nokona's glove conditioner or something similar...baking will dry out and cook the leather and ruin the laces, it is a temporary fix that does too much damage

Glove conditioner, put a baseball in it, and rap rubber bands around it for a day or two...then play catch.

Is Pontiac any closer to where you live then Avon? lol...i'd play catch all day...

I guess I haven't done this in a while, because my last glove was a Mizuno glove I got at Wal-Mart for 20 bucks that came pre-broken-in, and it is a really good glove...i love it. It needed a little breaking in, but I got it right before baseball practice started one year, and just broke it in with a friend....
