Oh, I think he was there - at least early in the season. I imagine having an offense behind you that can score buckets of runs at the drop of a hat can have an affect on how you approach pitching - you don't have to force yourself to try to be "perfect" with every pitch.

Nothing would prevent that.

 

My issue is how it cheapens the game. This is an exhibition. How can a game that doesn't count in the standings be used to affect the outcome of the most important 7 games of the year?!

 

Completely ridiculous.

 

Let's start a new system next year: here ya go-----all preseason records will be compiled, and those with the best preseason records in each division will be given an extra game at home in divisional series!!

 

Let's make those spring training games count, baby!! This year they COUNT!! Whoohoo!
