I still say that Murton's nickname should be "Daredevil" FOr some reason I associate Matt Murdock to matt Murton. I dunno, I am just excited that a Cubs player has the same name as me!

Hah, I made that same connection yesterday.

I'm having a brainstorm, and if Murton continues to show the same approach at the plate, wouldn't he be an ideal 2 hole hitter?

He doesn't project to have huge power, but he had a good average and great control of the strike zone. He went to RF last night when that's what the pitchers gave him, and he has good basepath speed.

Do you think Baker would bat him 2nd?

Pretty much and no.

Also, I have been a fan of his for a while. I kept worrying that his average would drop at AA since his BABIP was high but he definately looked good last night. He is faster than I expected as well.

There's nothing wrong with swinging at the first pitch, if it's a pitch you can hit hard.

The most patient hitters in the game will jump at the first pitch if it's something they can drive. If not, they're too predictable and pitchers will just groove a fastball so they start every AB 0-1.

I like his "Human Rain Delay" nickname quite a bit.

Well, the bandWGN had it moments, but with Holla starting today, it's pretty evident that Murton's situation will turn into another Dubois fiasco.

If Murton only plays vs. lefties then yes, he will be wasted.

We're facing a lefty today and he's not playing. Dusty is quoted saying something about not wanting to shelf Holla for that long. Long being 3 games in a row. He's still playing crappy Neifi without giving Cedeno a shot. I don't see how this one will play out any different.

So he got to play one full game, got pulled in his second game (the Dubois treatment), is out today and the soonest he could possibly get another start is Thursday...I don't see how these rookies don't succeed with all this regular playing time.

in regards to dusty's managerial skills...

Thought I'd bump the wagn. We've been out of the race a while now and Murton has started 1 of the last 5 games. I wish I could say I had more hope for his future with the Cubs.

An orange cat wondered out of a cornfield about a month ago. The lil critter (he was really still a kitten) was skinny as a bean so I took him home.

Needless to say I named him Murton. Hope he doesn't get traded to the Cardinals!
