Vasquez 8IP - 2H - 1R - 0BB -7K

Carpenter 8IP - 3H - 1R - 2BB -7K

Both of the Cardinal hits are by the mighty Jim Edmonds

doh Yadier just doubled with 0 outs. Carp is batting for himself (No he's not, Carps line is final)

LaRussa also took Molina out so that So can run (very Dusty-ish)

1st and 3rd 2 out for Jose Cruz Jr. after Izzy walked Glaus, and Tony Clark got a hit.

Cardinals win

Game over before i could get my mlb radio fired up - did the Cards somehow sap all the Cubs good luck while they were sleeping or something?

I don't know I was just following on Yahoo. That sac to the pitcher must been a suicide squeez. It must be nice to score 1 run in the first, and 1 run in the 9th and still win....

WTF.... Is So a speed demon

D. Eckstein sacrificed to pitcher, S. Taguchi scored

If your talking about scoring on the squeeze then he's a solid runner and it was a good squeeze by Eck.. Nunes sacrificed Taguchi to 3rd if ya forgot. Then that happened..

Anyways that was beautiful execution

Great game tonight. Carpenter and Vazquez were both lights out. That 9th inning was a glorious thing. Molina doubles to lead off. TLR sends in So to pinch run. Nunez bunts So over to third. Eckstein succesfuly lays down the suicide squeeze bunt on a very tough pitch.

Closer comes in and gets it done. Carpenter gets win number 13.

Nice night.

By the way Danica Patrick has been at the games this series. Apparently she's a Cardinals fan. :D

That's a shame.

Nonsense.

The only shame was that Albert's 17 game hitting streak stopped tonight.

That post was kind of knee jerk reaction, I was just following online and I saw that and was like WTF.... But afterwords I realized it must have been a squeez. It's just that I'm so use to seeing runners stranded at third with less than 2 outs I was startled.

I agree. And I saw her in person at Sunday's game. She was wearing a ridiculously BRIGHT yellow dress.

No she's not all that hot. But she is a beautiful woman who drives race cars. So she's cool.

I'm prouder that Billy Bob Thornton is a Cardinal fan. (Insert redneck jokes here.) That means that while they were married, a Cardinal fan was tagging Angelina Jolie.

And now Brad Pitt, another Cardinal fan . . .

It was a beautiful squeeze. And yes, Taguchi is a pretty fast runner--definitely faster than Molina, who seems to have a giant piano strapped to his back.

Well-played game, great win for the Cardinals. Vazquez pitches his best game of the year (retired 17 in a row at one point) and takes the loss.
