He makes the long trip to Hotlanta. . . . cubs should be turning up the heat and playing good ball. . . but, alas, they suck donkey balls.

Of course, if I were a betting man, I'd put 20 bucks on Vance not only seeing Ryno at the game tonight, but also eating dinner with him and getting his autograph :D

Bhogg, as the game thread pimp, you should make a spot start to get the Cubs out of their losing streak. You stopped the 7-game losing streak earlier in the season.

Hey, that's not a bad idea. Maybe that would not only get the cubbies going, but get recenlty doom-and-gloom attitude outta the way.

I'm usually a very positive person. . . this season is dang near about to ruin me.

Aside from a couple of ill-advised one-and-done shots to Miami, I've never really had an all-out "donkey balls" kind of trip like our brethren are experiencing. Buying dinner for Ryno in Buckhead might be the only saving grace ...

JR, you bought dinner for Ryno? Awesome.

I'm hoping that I don't kidnap him or something along those lines when I go to cooperstown.

If I do kidnap him, I promise to have him back at wrigley for the jersey retirement game.

Naw, I just agreed with you that Vance might salvage the trip by doing so.

Good call with Cooperstown - the one Cub trip guaranteed not to suck.

And he had to watch the guy he voted 90K votes for the AS Game leave early.

crap! I almost forgot about that.

You know, seriously, DLee owes Vance a bat or a ball or a hot dog or something.

Knowing Vance, he found a way to get something quality from the trip even with the bad play from the team. Anybody have his cellular #?

If that happens, someone needs to be severely hurt.

I hear ya man. I'm usually one of the happiest guys you'll meet, but I've noticed that when I watch Cubs games this year, it's not even fun. I'm usually complaining about something or pissed about a stupid Dusty move. And it's carried over to my non-Cubs life too. There's obviously one solution to this problem... fire Dusty.

Good, I'm not the only one. I am not excited about this team, at all. Its almost a chore to watch games anymore. Its not even half fun.

I work with a bunch of rowdy Cardinal fans. Early in the season when they talked their trash, I fired back. Recently though, I've just kind of shrugged it off. I don't even have the desire to defend my team anymore. It's pretty sad.

Ok...back. The Bad news first.

First of all the Cubs suck (insert your own metaphor here).

Secondly, for Wednesday I had row one seats on the dugout. We sat there all of one hour before becoming drenched and the game called. They'll play it today, but my wife has to be at work tonight so those tix will go to waste. Ok...sounds like a horrible trip...

well...

The good-

I've gotten a complete baseball signed by all the Cubs currently on the team with two exceptions: No Perez and no Novoa.

Secondly, my wife and I both got Greg Maddux's autograph yesterday.

Third, Derrek Lee signed a Cubs mini helmet for me on Monday.

Fourth, Michael Barrett signed the picture I took with him in Houston. (Actually, I saw Barrett tons so I also got a Cubs mini helmet signed too.)

I got Patterson to sign a mini helmet too...but I think I just defaced the helmet.

Also, pics taken with Dubois, Ohman, and Williams. (They were taken with a disposable camera, so I'll have to finish the roll before I can post. Also, I'm not certain how good they'll be. My wife took them and the last time I trusted her to take pics I got my eyes with the player's head.)

I wouldn't lie and say I'm a posititve person when it comes to the cubs, but normally it doesn't stop me from watching them. However I got married 3 weeks ago and haven't watched a game since. I lost top while out of the country on my honeymoon and the day I got back I checked the standings and saw the 5 game losing streak and I told myself I just don't care this year. I felt ashamed of the team last year as well, yet I was so proud of them in 2003....I guess its all about winning. I feel like its more though than that, more of an attitude. does anyone reemember during the Atlanta series right before the game they showed Grudz and Sosa banging fists in the concourse under the seats? It gave me chills, and it made be feel great about the cubs. I want to feel good about this team again.

what is your secret to getting the autographs and photos?

my experience was that players didn't wanna mess with adults so much, but they'd do stuff for the kids.

Thankfully, I now have a 2 year old.

The trick is putting in the time and knowing where to be.

I usually wait where the players enter the stadium...but that can be up to five hours before game time. Maddux arrived at Turner Field at 12:30 on Monday and there were only four of us there.

Also, be nice, say please, thank-you. And yes, children help.

Do as I did and forget the bad! That's great, congrats!
