And yes, his numbers are better away from Arlington.

They are both sabermetric wet dreams and Dellucci hits for average with a tiny contract. Sure he's older, but he'd come on the cheap in comparison. The only problem is that if I was in charge of the Rangers I wouldn't let him go.

My solution: Offer them Rusch or Mitre plus a prospect of little consequence and see if they want to get the pitching boost.

I realize that picking up Dellucci is not a marquee move, but it would leave room for other deals that could help CF or the bullpen.

As I was perusing the Rangers stats I noticed something that really stood out to me. Despite a .308 OBP, Alfonso Soriano is tearing it up. He's got 58 Runs scored and 52 Runs Batted In while batting .276. The way most fans here are talking, I would have thought he was batting .220 with 30 Runs & 30 RBI. I'm a big 'moneyball' follower but you can't argue with the fact that he finds ways to score and knock in runs.

There's quite an obp obsession. 5-8 hitters don't have to be prolific walkers.

1, 2 and 3 is where you want the guys who get on base. 3 is also where you want power along w/ 4 and 5 and 6. 7 and 8 you just pray they do something. Can't have everything unless you have New York or Boston's money or Cardinal luck.

Delucci <> Dunn

There is a huge power gap between the two guys.

Plus, is anyone else besides me skeptical of someone who at age 31 out of nowhere puts up abnormal numbers? I think Dellucci is a prime candidate for a 2nd half collapse.

And thank Kent you put in that 2nd sentence...because I was trying to figure out what "Dellucci <> Dunn" meant.

Oh yeah, note to self, the Cubs aren't poor and can afford to bring in Dunn. -That's right they're cheap, not poor.

If the Cubs are "cheap" with the payroll they have, then that makes about 25 or so other teams extremely stingy with their money.

The Cubs aren't "cheap." They just haven't spent wisely in certain areas. Big difference.

Dellucci would be better than what we have. And I could see Texas moving him, thinking that he could be a bust later on. Which he very well may be.

If you could get him for cheap, sure, if the cost is higher, look for a better player in return.
