What really irks me is that this organization is willing to screw with the career progress of a promising prospect just for the sake of something as trivial as giving a garbage player like Neifi Perez an occasional day off. I'd rather have seen Enrique Wilson fill that role and Cedeno keep playing every day in Iowa. With the way Neifi's been hitting Enrique isn't even a downgrade from Neifi offensively.

I don't understand that reasoning. Wilson's offensive abilities may be a bit better than Perez's, but his glove isn't good enough to justify playing Wilson over Perez. Also, Cedeno's career progress shouldn't be hurt at this point. Heck, three years ago he sucked offensively. I don't know why people think throwing kids immediately in the fire is the answer for everything. He and Dubois will be productive starters next year. I would think after seeing how Patterson had been handled since he was drafted would make people become a little more patient.

It doesn't bother me at this point. Having Cedeno on the roster makes the team better from a PH standpoint alone. Wilson was garbage, despite his innate ability to help beat the Yankees.

If Neifi keeps tumbling toward oblivion, pressure will mount for Baker to use Cedeno. At least now he won't be in a position where he gets a question from the media after a poor Neifi outing in which he defends Neifi, but the next day Cedeno is brought up and starting at short.

I'm not worried about Cedeno's growth being [expletive]. The way he was pounding AAA, he can learn just as much in the majors at this point as continuing to beat up AAA pitching.

I'd love to see a line up of:

Cedeno

Walker

Lee

Burnitz

ARam

Patterson

Dubois

Barrett

I like the lineup, but ARAM would have an OBP of .900 from all the intentional and intentional unintentional walks he'd get. That's why I think it's important to get a solid bat to play left field.

Why not let Burnitz protect Aramis? JB isn't deserving of the cleanup spot. He's been mediocre overall this year. Why not go DLee/Ramirez back to back? The righty/lefty thing is completely bogus. You could go

Oh, I agree completely. I prefer Lee and ARam back to back. I just didn't want to change things up too much as Burnitz seemed firmly planted between the two most of the time.

Truth be told, I'd prefer the line up you set forth.

You assume Dubois will play though! Would you change it up more if Hollandworth was in there?

like the article said about a left fielder... would a bat like huff or kearns change the lineup? they've struggled this year, but are proven hitters at their positions. i kinda like the possibility of getting aubry huff in a cubs uniform. is he R or L? same with kearns.

is it too late to get on?

No, but its worthless to get on. Dusty makes it park in the McDonald's across the street and insists everyone on board keep quiet until the game is over.

Thats great.

Im on but this bandwgn is going to be one slow smooth ride without much action. The Dubois bandwgn was like a 4X4 off road trip. We were all yelling for the driver to speed up and let it rip. When the thing got going it had its period of haulin ass which was fun. Then it hit the part with all those rocks and holes and turned into one bumpy ride. The driver pulled over because it was starting to fall apart and people jumped off because it got to scary. The cedeno bandwgn is like a classic car then never gets out of the garage. When it gets out its just going to hit the boulevard and turn back around get parked for a week. Nothing too exciting, slow and steady. We can only hope when this thing gets taken out the garage all the girls notice so we can do it again.

I am so on this bandWGN. I knew I should have started it yesterday - I could be driving now! :D

alright, my first bandwagon ride, I better not be holding on to the top because there is no room inside.

Theres plenty of room inside still.

When I'm tired, I'll let you drive ok?

Nice 4 pitch walk to lead off an inning today in a pinch hitting role. Hopefully he gets the start tomorrow.

The Cubs will play 5 consecutive day games today - Sunday. I haven't checked the forecast, but it was plenty hot there today. The bleacher ushers went around spraying people with water.

I hope that the scheduling means that we will see Cedeno pull at least one start over the next 4 games.

I'm not worried. I think Wilson is the fallback option. And I think other deals will be made.

Hope I'm right. :queen:

Well the Ronny Cedeno BandWGN is still in Chicago, and it looks like it will be here for awhile. Just bumping my one and only bandWGN in anticipation of spring training.

.280/.337/.420/.757

That's my line prediction for 2006.
