Thursday, 12:35 p.m. ET -- Iowa Cubs (CHC) @ Indianapolis Indians (PIT)
It’s been an inconvenient opening week for Pirates top prospect Bubba Chandler (MLB No. 14), who had his season debut twice pushed back due to postponements. He is scheduled once again to take the ball in Game 1 of a doubleheader against Iowa. The precocious right-hander will face a Cubs lineup anchored by four Top 100 prospects: Owen Caissie (CHC No. 3/MLB No. 52), Moises Ballesteros (CHC No. 4/MLB No. 67), James Triantos (CHC No. 5/MLB No. 71) and Kevin Alcántara (CHC No. 6/MLB No. 88). No small task.

Stop me if you've heard this one before, but Caissie hit a ball 100+ MPH in the air for an out.

That is I believe his 4th barrel and he has one hit to show for it

Kilian just doesn't have anything to consistently put good hitters away.  Disappointing that all we're going to come away with from trading KB, Rizzo, Baez and Kimbrel other than PCA is maybe something from Caissie and Alcantara.

There was a little bit more swing and miss today than normal from Kilian, so if you really wanted to squint you could take that positive.  But yeah he seems beyond even being fixed by Zombro.

Caissie came over in the Darvish trade.

Getting 2 eventual top-100 prospects (PCA/KA) and 2 additional MLB contributors (even if Madrigal and Heuer had limited success) seems par for the course for the success rate for these types of trades.

Yeah "aside from PCA" is doing some real heavy lifting there.  Basically the inverse of the old "other than that Mr. Lincoln, how was the play" joke.

The Cubs got incredible value for Javy, very good value for Rizzo, and rolled snake eyes on the other two deals.  If you'd promised me what we have right now the night of that trade deadline or offered to spin the wheel again I'd have locked it in so so fast.

Fun 5-run inning for Iowa with prospects coming through - Ballesteros single, Alcántara  walk, Cowles RBI triple, Caissie 2-run double.
