It's time to start thinking about the actual season, which is exciting.

I wanted to get opinions on game threads. How they're managed is up to the community, we do it all sorts of different ways on different sites. I have a few requirements but they're not really all that important from the end user side of things:

1. Game threads will go in the Cubs forum. The following morning, I will move yesterday's game thread to the archive forum (where it can still be viewed and posted in) to avoid cluttering the main forum with a dozen game threads no longer relevant.

2. We need them posted in the morning so I can do some prep work around promoting them during game time. Nothing too insane, just up by 11am eastern or so.

With that said, do you all want me to just create the thread every morning? Or do you all prefer to have a rotating cast of people who create the thread and add their own flavor to that day's thread? I know in the past you had people start threads themselves to give a bit of flavor to each day's thread, if you all want to keep that going, say so here.

Yeah seriously.

Anyways, my vote is to just have it automated by your team. Business has picked up, excitement should be higher going into the year, Bregman or not, but I think a consistent, generic first going up every morning would still let some form of the older traditions continue. You can still have a Mad Men gif winning streak, just has to develop in the responses as opposed to waiting for the thread creator to getting around to create the topic.

Come playoffs...maybe a different opinion.

Wasn't there a system last season where game threads weren't immediately moved to the archive forum so we could continue discussing/viewing for a few days afterwards?  I liked that approach.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. We'll keep doing that, thanks for the reminder.

I hate rule number one with a fiery passion.  The game threads forum should just be moved to Baseball Forums during the season so it's obvious where they are and they don't much up the other topics.  But I'm old and set in my ways and will just deal with it if it doesn't change.

During the season, I can move the game threads archive up into the baseball forums category so it's more visible. That makes sense. But the day's game thread will still be in the Cubs forum, as that's where it gets the most eyeballs. We had WAY more game thread participation last season with the thread existing in the Cubs forum during game time.
