I would like the package that gets Dusty and Hendry fired; while giving 4 or 5 of the more creative posters on this site a chance to run our beloved Cubs. That package doesn't exist? :wall: Oh well, I guess I'll take the HOF package please. I think that is what it had been named. The package with a Ryno and Maddux rookie card, and a Fergie autographed ball. Thanks to all who donated.

Since I don't pay for premium membership (it's one of the perks of contributing to the site) I don't feel quite right grabbing a prize. As such, I'll decline my prize claim so it can go to someone else. I'm content with the knowledge that pessimism is always justified. At least when it comes to the Cubs, that is.

OK, I've had to think long and hard about this. It came down to "Down on the Farm", "Flash Back", "Sosa Appreciation" and "Aramis"

 

Eliminated Down on the Farm because I figured there are members here that would like that prize a lot more then I.

 

Eliminated Sosa Appreciation when I realized that I don't really like Sosa anymore, I still need more time to heal.

 

Eliminated Flashback only because I chose the Aramis package, simply because winning a jersey is pretty damn cool, even if I doubt it will fit me (I'm 6'3'').

 

So I'm choosing Aramis, and if it doesn't fit me, I'll give it away as an X-Mas gift. Thanks for this cool contest.

When I told my wife about winning the predictions contest, she looked quite bewildered. She precedes to ask me how could I have won unless I predicted the Cubs to suck; since all I did all season was complain about that very thing. She then asked me why I bothered to watch if I knew they were going to suck. Without even the slightest bit of hesitation I responded because I had been a fan for almost 30 years. She then asked how close the battle was. When I told her that I blew away the competition; she told me I must be a miserable (something that rhymes with stick). I said "thank you, now you know what it takes to be a Cubs fan".

I should have made more of a point of this earlier, but better late than never: this is one small way to recognize the premium members here who have continued to support the site as it grows. Tim is working on making the switch to a new server this weekend, which will hopefully help solve some of the issues we had with traffic spikes and temporary outages this past season. The move wouldn't be possible without premium members, and we really appreciate the support you provide.

 

On a contest-related note -- Dr. Cub's and Treebeard's packages will be sent today. Any packages selected by this evening (and UMFan83's and burnt's) will be sent out tomorrow.

 

In response to a question I received -- if you want to negotiate a swap of one item in your package for an item in another, that's A-OK with me. If the people involved let me know before I mail the items, I'll make the switch on my end ... otherwise it's up to you to coordinate it.

 

And we will do this again next season.
