Ranks and Achievements are back up and running

So as you do various things around the site, you'll receive notifications of various badges you earn. Some of them are pretty fun.

A couple of notes:

If you see Twins or Brewers mentions anywhere in achievements, please let me know. I tried to scrub all references of other sites but I may have missed something.

Second, how do your post counts look now? Is everything accurate? If not, I'll dig into the issue more and try to resolve it.

Forgive the question, but is there a point to ranks or achievements outside of bragging rights? I'm mostly curious if you tied access to the social forum to rank or something.

Also, my thing says something about needing another ~4.5k points to earn the next rank. Where do "points" come from?

Nope, they're not tethered to anything, just a fun little thing that exists.

Points are awarded for content, mostly, but also milestones. You get a couple of points for a post, ten for a blog post, one for receiving a reaction, etc. And then when you hit big milestones like 10,000 posts, you receive a big chunk of points, like 100 or so.

Fair enough. I figured they were akin to xbox achievements, but I remembered you saying something cagey about social forum access, so I was curious on that specific account.

Also, there are some truly weird badges hidden behind doing a string of things in a certain order. My personal favorite is the completely nonsensical badge "Repeal the Third Amendment". I can't recall why I created it but I'm pretty sure inebriation had to be involved in the process somewhere.

As a current law student, I can verify that the only time the Third Amendment comes up is when somebody is inebriated.
