So on the old forum, if you clicked the icon to the left of the forum title, it brought you to unread posts.

Now it marks the entire forum as "read" (D'OH)

Yeah, I posted a comment about that on Brock's front page article that contains hints.

I changed the "Unread Content" into "Recent Content" that more closely mimics the old "Active Topics" behavior. But without an indicator to show what is read and unread, I'm not sure which I prefer.

There's currently two themes to choose from. You can find them at the very bottom of the page.

The font for the Northside Baseball (default) theme nearly gave me eye cancer. But the other default theme is a bit better. And doesn't have all the missing icon issues.

That was very appreciated!

I hope you enjoyed it while you could. It appears that theme is now gone again...

I'm gonna need a theme with a readable typeface for my old eyes at some point soon. This jacked-up sans serif nonsense is abusive.

The other theme was indeed nice while it lasted.

Sorry, that theme was enabled and I noticed it a few minutes ago while making other theme changes. If enough people dislike this font, we can work on using an alternative, though it'll be awhile until I get to that sort of thing.

Please forgive my ignorance, but was the availability of the theme choice causing some other issue?

If not, I think keeping it enabled as an option while you work out some of the kinks (such as the broken icons on the other theme), might be well-received.

That theme simply won't function for huge swaths of the site, there's no underlying code supporting our custom sections and methodology we use to pay our writers.

The more I think about this, I might be able to implement a kind of kooky fix relatively soon. I have two major site launches in the next week (non-baseball stuff) so if you're willing to wait a week or so, I'll investigate this more thoroughly, just shoot me a reminder next Tuesday or so.

I'd be much obliged. Right now, I've got the site zoomed in 120% to make the font somewhat legible, which of course is throwing off the way everything else is presented. That said, I want to express that I fully appreciate you're working hard to make sure the methodology is working appropriately for paying your writers. That is a way better reason than anything I was anticipating.

That said, if you get the time to make a second theme with the only difference being Times New Roman font, I'd name my next kid after you.

The fix I'm envisioning is creating a font toggle in everyone's user profile, I just need to think it through in my head a bit and then figure out how to best implement it.

For anyone who was an active topics user on old board, I think I've managed to do stream settings that replicate the old active topic view pretty well. Supposedly this link should work for anyone then you can save it as your own default (will show up when you click the newspaper-y icon)

Everyone should have an edit button for 60 minutes after content has been created. Check the ... menu at top right of each post, let me know if it's there or not.

Interesting that it's limited to 60 minutes. Is that a custom setting?  Is just meant to encourage new activity?

I'm not married to that, it's just what I generally set an edit limit to. Occasionally, you'll get some smartass who goes back and derails an entire thread by drastically editing a post long after multiple people have replied.

Gotcha. It's not a common use case, but one example where I know a longer than 60 minute edit is used would be like the draft day thread. The thread owner will go and edit the original post as draft goes on and update with links and stuff for the players selected so it's easy to grab summaries in one place. But I know that goes kind of with the anti/pro megathread that was discussed when you came on board. But maybe there's a way to incorporate those types of things with articles or whatever since front page content will be more dynamic and frequent now.

I'm also a terrible typer who doesn't proofread and I'll edit posts well after if I notice a spelling error, but I'm not too concerned about that aspect. I just need to spell check lol.

We can definitely change that around, like I said I'm not really married to any specific time limit. But in the case of the draft, we're going to have this coming, which is also added in real time. There'll still be a thread and whatnot and in the case of events like the draft, mega-threads make a ton of sense. Following the draft is more like a game thread than a typical conversation. But I just wanted to point out that other site features like this one will be parallel to the forum content.

Cool. Hopefully the real time content and stuff makes a lot of our old habits unnecessary. If 60 minutes has worked on your other boards I'm fine with giving it a go.  Really appreciate all the feedback and open exchange.
