Oh, by the way, Dubois is starting in LF tonight...

And he got pulled after 2 at bats.

Sheesh.....

He got pulled thanks to Glendon Rusch not being able to get the third out in the inning. Thanks to Glendon, he was pulled with his spot in the order up first. Or maybe you wanted to bring in Borowski for just one hitter?

Thanks, dalgreen.

Did you watch the game tonight, frostwyrm? If you did, then you should understand why Dubois was pulled when he was. If you did watch the game and you still made this post, then you are being needlessly argumentative.

Dubois started tonight and against a right-hander at that. He is basically starting every other game now. He has not been benched. If the facts don't match your argument, then maybe it time to reevaluate the point you were trying to make.

Not everyone can alter the intelligence to support their argument and get away with it.

What I think you guys fail to realize is that it's those last 3 half innings Jason is regularly missing that is preventing him from overtaking Lee in the triple crown race. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I don't see why it was so imperative to get Borowski into those 2 innings. We were down 5-0, and it not like the roster is short on relievers. Wellemeyer could have pitched, then Borowski the next inning, which is what I would rather see anyway, because Borowski is accustomed to entering games at the top of an inning.

I'm off the Dubois band wagon. Even though he hit 30 HR in AAA in under 400 AB's.

His defense is pretty brutal, and he strikes out a little too easily. I feel he'd be a good trade for an AL DH.

One day I think he'll hit 30-35 HR, and be around 300. But what I saw last night with that flyball was horrible.

He pulled up on the ball, and it only ended up like 3 feet away from him.

Ultimately I think Hairston can provide a role on this team... A plus left fielder on defense, and a table setter as a lead-off man.

Who was brought into the game was irrelevant. I'm beginning to think you didn't see the game and just venting needlessly. Anyway, had Rusch gotten out of the inning, his spot was due up in the bottom half of the inning. A pinch-hitter would've been brought in, thus saving Dubois from having to be pulled for the double-switch. Barrett batted eighth, but you're not going to pull him, so Dubois had to be double-switched. Who was brought in to pitch was irrelevant to the double-switch.

I still don't see why a double switch was necessary. You could have just used a pitcher to get out of that inning, then use a pinch hitter for the pitcher. Dubois could stay in the game. There was no reason for the double switch, much like most of Dusty's double switches.

Or you could bring in Wellemeyer to get one out, he needs the work anyway. Then lead off the next inning with Hairston and save Hollandsworth for a PH later. Then Borowski can start the next inning with nobody on base, which is how I'd like to see him used for now.

Dusty's too in love with the double switch to do that.

Well the Dubois Band Wagon should be happy tonight. He'll get to K 3 times against D-Train.

I don't know what constitutes being on the bandwagon, but I think Dubois will do okay against Willis tonight. As long as he continues to try to go the other way.

Nothing like a good, unwarranted, backhanded comment to break up the day.

Has he tried to go the other way really? Most of his hits have been pulls, hence the GIDP yesterday. Other than the HR against the Sox I haven't seen many at-bats where he goes the other way.

I don't think any of the Cubs will do well against Willis tonight, it's gonna be frustrating to watch all around.

It wasn't backhanded to posters, I'm just not on the Dubois wagon, and his plate patience (or lack thereof) is frustrating me as much as CP's.

That's fine, but that doesn't justify you declaring that he's going to strike out three times when the game hasn't even started yet.

It was a pessimistic prediction, and I was wrong anyway.

4/21 in his last 6 starts. He's getting his share of starts since Holla stopped being so ice cold - it's a fair platoon and he's not doing much with the opportunity.

Overall: 6 BBs, 45Ks in 128 Abs. Both: terrible.

SLG is down to .469.

He's gotten 12 at bats in the last 9 games. Even a veteran would lose his stroke playing that infrequently. That is not a fair platoon. He's only had 128 AB's on the season and he really only got regular starts over a 3 week stretch, and now he's on the brink of being dumped from the team. If every rookie on every team was discarded this quickly MLB would be overrun with 50 year old players.

Somewhere Rickey Henderson's ears perk up

How many more AB's is Hollandsworth getting, since apparently, Dubois is never being used, and Holly is always out there.

30 more? 5 or 6 games more than dubois?

I don't get it. He's on the brink of being dumped from the team? Isn't that a little paranoid?

Dubois was hitting something like .346 earlier in the year when he was coming off the bench and sadly, it looks like if he is going to remain on the team he is going to be sitting on the bench. What do you guys think happened to him? Are pitchers just figuring him out?

I think it was too high of expectations, plus the book was finally written on him. Usually, the cycle for first year players is you see a steady diet of fastballs, then when you can prove you can hit fastballs, they start throwing you breaking pitches. And that's when the struggles will or will not begin. I only wanted him plattooning this year, anyway. Of course, I thought we'd have a true everyday leftfielder once the season started (stupid me). I'm sick of rushing guys through. I really saw Dubois starting in 2006. Speaking of rushing guys, I feel obligated to say I do not want to see Felix Pie in a Chicago Cub uniform until September 2006.

Wow, Jason's bandwagon thread had almost fallen to page 4 before this post. Have we all forgotten about him? Btw, anyone notice Holla's numbers have flatlined over the past 2 weeks?

June 14th - .257, .320, .382, .702 OPS

June 28th - .259, .309, .391, .700 OPS

I guess we can dispense with this notion of Dusty "going with the hot hand". At this point Dubois and Hairston both make more sense than Holla.

PS> Holla's SLG would be lower too if the scorer hadn't been inexplicably persuaded to change that Geoff Jenkins error to a triple, which might be the cheapest 3 bases I've ever seen.
